The , often shortened to simply Budokan, is an indoor arena located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally built for the inaugural Olympic judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics. Cherine Abdellaoui (born 28 August 1998) is an Algerian Paralympic judoka. She won the gold medal in the women's 52 kg event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo, Japan. Priscilla Gagné (born May 21, 1986) is a partially blind Canadian judoka. She won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. On August 21, 2021, Gagné was announced as Canada's flagbearer during the 2020 Summer Paralympics opening ceremony. Career Gagné won the bronze medal at the 2015 Para Judo World Cup. She is a double Parapan silver medalist and was the first Canadian female medalist in the IBSA World Championships. Gagné will be inducted into the Women's Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2024. Judo at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo took place at the Nippon Budokan from 27 to 29 August 2021. There were 138 qualified slots (80 male, 58 female) in 13 events: 7 male events and 6 female events. The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Qualification A total of 138 athletes could qualify for judo at the 2021 Summer Paralympics. Ramona Brussig (20 May 1977) is a German judoka and two-time gold medal winner in Paralympic competition. Career She was born in Leipzig with visual impairments meaning that she competes in B2 classification events. Brussig has an identical twin sister, Carmen Brussig, also a gold medal-winning visually-impaired judoka, who was born 15 minutes before her. Brussig began training in 1986 at the age of nine and made her senior international debut in 1998 at the World Games in Madrid.
