David Aldrich Nelson
David Aldrich Nelson (August 14, 1932 – October 1, 2010) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Early life Born at Watertown, New York to son of Carlton Low Nelson and Irene Demetria Aldrich Nelson, Nelson was educated in the public schools of East Aurora, New York, and at Hamilton College, from which he was graduated in 1954 as valedictorian, with an Artium Baccalaureus degree. Nelson began his legal studies that year as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Cambridge in England. En route to England, he met Mary Dickson, a recent Vassar College graduate who also was a Cambridge-bound Fulbright Scholar. The couple became engaged in England; they were married for fifty-four years and had three children. Nelson took first class honours at Cambridge in 1955, on the strength of which he was retrospectively made a scholar of his college, Peterhouse. Susan Richard Nelson
Susan Beth Richard Nelson (born March 22, 1952) is a Senior United States district judge for the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. She was previously a United States magistrate judge with the same court. Early life and education Nelson was born in Buffalo, New York and graduated from Oberlin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors in 1974 and received her Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Nelson's first job was a camp counselor and waterfront director at Camp Interlocken in Windsor, New Hampshire during the summers of 1973 and 1974. Later in 1974, Nelson became a bank teller at the First Federal Savings & Loan in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Between January and June 1975 she worked was a waitress at Stouffers Restaurant and later at the Pittsburgh YMCA as a camp counselor for the summer. William Nelson (New York Politician)
William Nelson (June 29, 1784 – October 3, 1869) was an American lawyer and judge from Westchester County, New York. He represented New York in the U.S. Congress from 1847 to 1851. Biography Born in Hyde Park, Dutchess County, New York, on June 29, 1784, Nelson attended the common schools and was graduated from Poughkeepsie Academy. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1807, and commenced practice in Peekskill, Westchester County, New York. He married Cornelia Mandeville Hardman, and they had 12 children, Richard, Joseph, Cornelia, Dorinda, George, Thomas, Sarah, William, Elizabeth, Edward, Laura, and Robert. Thomas Leverett Nelson (March 4, 1827 – November 21, 1897) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Nelson was nominated by President Rutherford B. Hayes on January 7, 1879, to a seat vacated by John Lowell. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on January 10, 1879, and received commission the same day. Nelson's service was terminated on November 21, 1897, due to death. Rensselaer Russell Nelson (May 12, 1826 – October 15, 1904) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. He was the son of United States Supreme Court Justice Samuel Nelson.
