Juan Morales (hurdler)
Juan Morales Hechavarría (born July 12, 1948, in Santiago de Cuba) is a former Cuban athlete who competed mainly in 110 metres hurdles. Together with Hermes Ramírez, Pablo Montes, and Enrique Figuerola he won an Olympic silver medal in 4 x 100 metres relay in Mexico City 1968. He was a prominent athlete in the American and Caribbean scene, winning the Central American and Caribbean Championships four times in a row. He was not able to compete for his fifth title as the 1975 event was cancelled due to torrential rain. Alejandro Casañas would eventually take over his role as the leading Cuban hurdler. Juan Bautista Morales, 黎玉范,(b. about 1597 at Ecija in Andalusia, Spain; d. Fu-ning, China, 17 September 1664) was a Spanish Dominican missionary in China. Life He entered the Order of St. Dominic at a very early age, and after devoting some years to missionary work in the Philippine Islands, accompanied in 1633 a band of Dominican missionaries to China, taking up their work in the province of Fu-kien. Here he took an active part in the Chinese Rites controversy, between the Jesuits on the one side and the Dominicans and Franciscans on the other. The latter maintained that the Jesuits, to make converts, tolerated to a certain extent the cult of Confucius and of ancestors. They despatched Morales to Rome in 1643, and on 12 September 1645, obtained from Pope Innocent X a decision condemning the methods of the Jesuits. Juan José Morales (born May 13, 1982 in Bella Vista, Tucumán, Argentina) is an Argentine football forward. Career A native of Tucumán province, Morales (also known as ''Jota Jota'') began his football career with local side San Martín de Tucumán. He went on loan to Central Norte and Atlético Concepción, and helped San Martín win promotion from the Torneo Argentino C and Primera B Nacional. Morales left San Martín in 2007, but did not settle in the Argentine Primera División with Club Atlético Colón.
