Joyride (crime)
Joyriding refers to driving or riding in a stolen vehicle, most commonly a car, with no particular goal other than the pleasure or thrill of doing so or to impress other people. The term "Joy Riding" was coined by a New York judge in 1908. Joyriders often act opportunistically and choose easy targets (key-on-ignition while shopping, neighbor's car...). Like other car thieves, they can also gain access to locked cars with a flathead screwdriver and a slide hammer, although modern cars have systems to prevent a screwdriver from opening locks. Locks in cars manufactured before the early to mid-1990s were very weak and could be opened easily. The vehicle is started by either hot-wiring or breaking the ignition lock. Ignition systems were much less sophisticated before the early to mid-1990s and easier to bypass. The vehicle is often driven through rural areas or less busy residential areas to avoid police notice, and dumped when it is exhausted of fuel or damaged. Many cases of joy ... Joyrider (band)
Joyrider were a rock band from Portadown, Northern Ireland. The band consisted of Phil Woolsey (guitar, vocals), Cliff Mitchell (guitar), Simon Haddock (bass) and Keith Irwin, Buc Hamill / Carl Alty (drums). Joyrider initially signed to Andy Cairns' Blunt record label, but after releasing their first two EPs signed a recording contract with Paradox Records. The band's biggest hit was a cover of the Jane Wiedlin song, "Rush Hour". They supported Terrorvision on their May 1995 United Kingdom tour. Woolsey later played in the bands Ninebar International and Roque Junior. and now fronts Papa Luna Haddock is now a member of Trucker Diablo, who played the Download Festival in June 2011, toured with Black Stone Cherry and were booked for Hammerfest in March 2012 on the same bill as Anthrax, Skindred and Evile. The Joyriders
''The Joyriders'' is a 1999 American crime drama film directed by Bradley Battersby and written by Jeff Spiegel and Bradley Battersby. The film stars Martin Landau as Gordon Trout, an elderly suicidal man who is kidnapped for his car and his money by Cam (Shawn Hatosy), Crystal (Heather McComb) and Jodi (Elisabeth Moss), a trio of runaway teenagers who live on the streets. His captors ad lib a road trip using Gordon as their reluctant bankroll. Gordon is increasing shaken and upset about the experiences he's put through, especially the reckless pranks and hijinks of Cam and Crystal. Through the intervention of a rural minister (Kris Kristofferson), Gordon begins to see his captors in a different light: a tight group of friends that help each other out of tough places, because in spite of circumstances, they've each developed some personal character. ''His 'n' Hers'' is the fourth studio album by English rock band Pulp, released on 18 April 1994 by Island Records. It proved to be the band's breakthrough album, reaching number nine on the UK Albums Chart, and was nominated for the 1994 Mercury Music Prize. In 1998, ''Q'' magazine readers voted it the seventieth greatest album of all time, while it was placed at number 110 in the book ''Virgin All-Time Top 1000 Albums''. Themes and content Lyrically, the album encompasses subjects for which Pulp were to become well known, including sexual encounters, social class and voyeurism. Robyn Strachan retrospectively describes the opener "Joyriders" as setting the tone for the album with "acerbic observation and lurking seediness and decay". Colour Girl
Rebecca Skingley, better known as Colour Girl, is a British singer. She appeared on several house and garage records in the 1990s into the 2000s, and scored several hits on the UK Singles Chart, including a cover of "Can't Get Used to Losing You" and the UK garage anthem "Joyrider". Her debut album, ''Special'', was released in 1999 on 4 Liberty Records. The single "Joyrider" was first released in 1999 and reached a peak of No. 95, but a re-release the following year, retitled "Joyrider (You're Playing with Fire)", charted higher at No. 51. It also reached No. 2 on the UK Dance Singles Chart. 2001's "Mas que Nada" contains samples of the Sérgio Mendes version of " Mas que Nada". In 2001, two tracks were released under the alias 'Blond'; "If I Was Your Girl" and a cover of Blondie's " Heart of Glass", both produced by Sovereign (Nigel Doyle).
