José Rodríguez (infielder, Born 2001)
José Augusto Rodríguez (born May 13, 2001) is a Dominican professional baseball infielder for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Chicago White Sox. Career Chicago White Sox Rodríguez signed with the Chicago White Sox as an international free agent on February 13, 2018. He made his professional debut that season with the Dominican Summer League White Sox and played 2019 with the Arizona League White Sox. Rodríguez did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned in 2021 to play for the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, Winston-Salem Dash and Birmingham Barons. After the season he played in the Arizona Fall League. On November 15, 2022, the White Sox added Rodríguez to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. Rodríguez was optioned to Double-A Birmingham to begin the 2023 season. The Arizona Fall League (AFL) is an off-season sports league owned and operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) which operates during the autumn in Arizona, United States, at six different baseball complexes. Arizona Fall League rosters are filled by many of the top prospects in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) who are assigned by their parent clubs.
