Josh Thewlis (rugby League)
Josh Thewlis (born 30 April 2002) is an English rugby league footballer who plays as a or er for the Warrington Wolves in the Super League. Background Thewlis was born in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. Played amateur rugby league for Waterhead Warriors. He is of Irish descent. Career Thewlis made his Super League debut for Warrington in their 34–4 victory over the Catalans Dragons in round 17 of the 2019 Super League season. In round 8 of the 2023 Super League season, Thewlis scored two tries for Warrington in their 20-14 victory over Catalans. Thewlis played 21 games for Warrington in the 2023 Super League season as Warrington finished sixth on the table and qualified for the playoffs. He did not play in their elimination playoff defeat against St Helens. In October 2023 Thewlis was called up to the full England squad ahead of the third test in the series against Tonga. Oldham
Oldham is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, amid the Pennines and between the rivers Irk and Medlock, southeast of Rochdale and northeast of Manchester. It is the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, which had a population of 237,110 in 2019. A hat-trick or hat trick is the achievement of a generally positive feat three times in a match, or another achievement based on the number three. Origin The term first appeared in 1858 in cricket, to describe H. H. Stephenson taking three wickets with three consecutive deliveries. 2024 Challenge Cup Final
The 2024 Challenge Cup Final was the 123rd final of the Rugby Football League's Challenge Cup knock-out competition. The final was contested by Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves. This was the first time since 1990 that both teams had met in the final. Background The 2024 Challenge Cup final will be only the second time Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves have played each other in the cup final – the first in 1990. Outside of the final, there have been 23 previous meetings in the cup. Wigan have won the competition a record 20 times, and enter the 2024 final as world champions. London Broncos
The London Broncos are a professional rugby league club in London, England. The club competes in the RFL Championship. It was a member of Super League from its inaugural season in 1996 until the end of the 2014 season, when they were relegated to the Championship. They returned to the Super League after achieving promotion by winning the Million Pound Game against the Toronto Wolfpack in 2018, but were relegated back to the Championship at the end of the 2019 Super League season after finishing 12th. The club was originally formed in 1980 as Fulham Rugby League Club and entered the Second Division for the 1980–81 season. Warrington Wolves
The Warrington Wolves are a professional rugby league club based in Warrington, England, that competes in the Super League. They play rugby at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, having moved there from Wilderspool in 2004. Founded as Warrington Zingari Football Club in 1876, they are one of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895 and the only one that has played every season in the top flight. They are nicknamed "The Wire" in reference to the wire-drawing industry in the town. Warrington have local rivalries with Widnes, St Helens and Wigan. Super League XXIV
Super League XXIV, known as the Betfred Super League XXIV for sponsorship reasons, was the 2019 iteration of and the 24th season of the Super League and 125th season of rugby league in Great Britain. Twelve teams competed over 29 rounds, including the Magic Weekend, which took place at Anfield. After the regular rounds, the top five highest teams entered the Super League play-offs, for a place in the Super League Grand Final. The remaining seven teams were eliminated after the main league stage.
