Joseph Whitehead (January 1, 1814 – March 12, 1894)https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/202020191/joseph-whitehead was a Canadian railway pioneer and political figure. He represented Huron North in the 1st Canadian Parliament as a Liberal member. He was born in Guisborough, Yorkshire, England in 1814. Whitehead was a fireman and engineer on railways in Britain, serving as fireman for George Stephenson's ''Locomotion'' in 1825. He later became involved in railway construction, helping to build the Caledonian Railway in Scotland. He came to Canada West in 1850 and help build sections of the Great Western Railway and a section of the Grand Trunk Railway between Buffalo and Goderich. He also served as mayor for the town of Clinton, Ontario. Whitehead won contracts to build two sections of the transcontinental railway, the section between Cross Lake and Kenora and a branch line between Emerson and Saint Boniface, Manitoba. Joseph Whitehead (Coca-Cola Bottler)
Joseph Brown Whitehead (1864–1906) was a lawyer, who, along with Benjamin Thomas and John Thomas Lupton, obtained exclusive rights from Asa Candler to bottle and sell Coca-Cola. Early life Whitehead was born in Oxford, Mississippi in 1864. He was the son of Richard H. Whitehead (1836–1912), a Baptist minister in Mississippi, and Mary Amanda Conkey Whitehead (d. 1869). His younger brother was Henry Parsons Whitehead. He attended the University of Mississippi and graduated with a degree in law. Career In 1899, Whitehead and Thomas met with Candler. Candler gave the two exclusive rights to bottle the soft drink. After this meeting, Lupton partnered with them and he became the president of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Personal life In 1895, he married Lettie Pate and then the couple moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Whitehead died unexpectedly in 1906 from pneumonia. Joseph Whitehead (October 31, 1867 – July 8, 1938) was a United States Representative from Virginia, serving from 1925 to 1931. Biography Whitehead was born near Mount Airy, Pittsylvania County, Va., October 31, 1867. He attended the public schools of his native city and graduated from the academic department of Richmond College (now the University of Richmond), Richmond, Va., in 1889, then from the law department of the University of Virginia at Charlottesville in 1892. He was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced the practice of law in Chatham, Virginia. He became law partners with Claude A. Swanson. Joseph James Whitehead (18 January 1868 – 17 January 1951) was an English sculptor and stonemason. Life He was born in Aston, Birmingham, the son of John Whitehead (1845–1904), also a sculptor. He joined the family sculpting company, J. Whitehead and Son, which ran studios at 64 Kennington Road, 74 Rochester Row, and Vincent Square, London.
