Joseph Tucker (Massachusetts Politician)
Joseph Tucker (August 21, 1832 – November 28, 1907) was an American politician who served as the 28th Lieutenant Governor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1869 to 1873. Early life and career Joseph Tucker was born in Lenox, Massachusetts on August 21, 1832, to George J. and Eunice Cook Tucker. Both his father and grandfather were treasurers of Berkshire County. Joseph's youngest brother George was also county treasurer. Tucker graduated from Lenox Academy and attended Williams College, graduating in 1851. He then studied at Harvard Law School and was admitted to the Berkshire bar in 1854. After graduating, Tucker practiced law in St. Louis until 1860. Following the outbreak of the Civil War, Tucker worked in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Military career In September 1862, Tucker enlisted in the 49th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. Joseph John Tucker (1832 – November 23, 1914) was a Canadian politician. Born in Chatham, Kent, England, the son of John Tucker, Joseph emigrated to Canada with his father at an early age. He was, for twenty years, the chief surveyor for Lloyds in the East and resided in Shanghai. Tucker commanded a transport vessel during the Crimean War. He was a Lieutenant-Colonel with the 62nd Battalion, Saint John Fusiliers. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada for the New Brunswick electoral district of City and County of Saint John in the 1896 federal election. Joseph Peter Tucker (born 14 September 1979) played two first-class cricket matches for Somerset in 2000 and 2001. A right-arm medium-fast bowler, he only took one wicket in first-class cricket, that of Brian Lara, before a back injury forced him out of the game. Life and career Joseph Tucker was born in Bath on 14 September 1979. He made his first appearance for Somerset's second team at the age of 15, in a heavy defeat against Kent. He represented England Under-17s in the 1997 International Youth Tournament, taking seven wickets, and two years later toured New Zealand with the England Under-19 cricket team. During the tour, he played all three Test matches, taking 10 wickets at an average of 17.10.
