Joseph Skaff
Joseph Elias Tohme Skaf ( ar, جوزيف الياس طعمه سكاف; 1991–1922), was a Lebanese politician who is considered one of the most prominent personalities of the Skaff family in the city of Zahle. He held several ministerial positions from 1955 to 1988 under 5 different presidents which include Camille Chamoun, Fouad Chehab, Suleiman Franjieh, Elias Sarkis and Amine Gemayel. Political life He was also elected as a deputy for the Catholic seat of the Zahle constituency against Jean Skaff in the years 1957 were he received 16,277 votes, 1960 were he received 16,816 votes, 1964 were he received 17,966 votes and 1972 were he received 22,091. In 1982, he contributed to the election of Bashir Gemayel as President of the Republic by securing the necessary quorum, with the deputies of his bloc. Elias Skaff
Elias (Elie) Skaff (11 October 1948 – 10 October 2015), in Arabic الياس سكاف , was a Lebanese politician and leader of the " Popular Bloc". Early years and education Elias Skaff was born in Zahlé, Lebanon on 11 October 1948. He is the son of the leader and ex-minister Joseph Tohme Skaff. His mother is Helena Nilacos who is of the Greek nationality. Elias Skaff received elementary education in Zahle and then in New Zealand. In 1965, he attended the Evangelical School in Zahle and then the International School of Choueifat – Lebanon. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from the American University of Beirut in 1975. Political career Skaff was elected to the Lebanese parliament in 1992 as head of the Popular Bloc list as well as in 1996, 2000 and 2005. The Lebanese Front ( ar, الجبهة اللبنانية, ''al-Jabha al-Lubnaniyya'') or ''Front Libanais'' in French, was a coalition of mainly Lebanese Nationalist parties formed in 1976 by majority Christian intellectuals during the Lebanese War. Shafik Al-Wazzan ( ar, شفيق الوزان, January 16, 1925 – July 8, 1999) was a Lebanese politician who served as the 27th Prime Minister of Lebanon from 1980 until 1984. In December 1991, Wazzan was wounded when a car bomb exploded in the Beirut neighborhood of Basta Al Fouka (where he lived) as he was passing through in an armored car. Takieddin el-Solh (also Takieddin Solh, Takieddin as-Solh; ar, تقي الدين الصلح) (1908 – 27 November 1988) was a Lebanese politician who served as the Prime Minister of Lebanon from 1973 to 1974, and again briefly in 1980. El-Solh was born in Sidon, Lebanon. A Sunni Muslim, he was a legislator representing the Beqaa Valley from 1957–60 and 1964–68. From 1964–65, he was Minister of the Interior in the Government of Hussein al-Oweini. In 1973, President Suleiman Frangieh named him Prime Minister and Minister for Finance.
