Joseph Richards was an English rugby union footballer who played in the 1890s. He played at representative level for England, and at club level for Bradford FC, as a forward, e.g. front row, lock, or back row. Prior to Tuesday 27 August 1895, Bradford FC was a rugby union club, it then became a rugby league club, and since 1907 it has been the association football (soccer) club Bradford Park Avenue. Dr. Joseph Richards represented Dedham, Massachusetts in the Great and General Court. Beginning in 1731, he served five terms as selectman. He married the daughter of Rev. Joseph Belcher but did not get along with Belcher's successor, Samuel Dexter. He was one of the richest men in Dedham and a Lt. Colonel in the Suffolk Regiment. The Richards Baronetcy, of Brambletye House in the County of Suffolk, was a title in the Baronetage of England. It was created on 22 February 1684 for Sir James Richards. The second Baronet was a colonel in the Spanish Army and a merchant in Cádiz, Spain. The fourth Baronet was also an officer in the Spanish army. Nothing further is known of him or his possible descendants. The title became either extinct or dormant on his death some time after 1741. Joseph John Richards (August 27, 1878 – March 16, 1956) was a composer, conductor, and music educator best known for writing over 300 compositions for circus and school bands. His most successful works were marches, including ''Crusade for Freedom'', ''Emblem of Unity'', and ''Shield of Liberty''. Richards was born in Cwmafan, Wales, but spent most of his childhood in Pittsburg, Kansas, United States. He began playing alto horn and cornet at the age of ten and became director of the Norton-Jones Circus Band at the age of nineteen. He would later play for and conduct several other circus bands, including the Barnum and Bailey Circus Band and the Ringling Brothers Band before they combined. When not playing for a circus, Richards studied music at Kansas State Teachers College and the American Conservatory of Music. He began teaching music during World War I, first to Army bands and later to public schoolchildren. He conducted several municipal bands in Florida and Kansas until 19 ...
