Joseph Lazare
Joseph Tekaroniake Lazare (born June 19, 1984) is a Mohawk director, producer, writer and actor. He is a member of thWolf Clan Early life Lazare grew up in Kahnawake, a Mohawk reserve south of the Saint Lawrence River and across from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He began filmmaking at 12 years old through Teioiaks, a local summertime film production program. After attending Kahnawake’s local high school, Lazare left a collegiate film and television production program to intern at Aboriginal owned and operated Big Soul Productions in Toronto, Ontario. Mohawk People
The Mohawk people ( moh, Kanienʼkehá꞉ka) are the most easterly section of the Haudenosaunee, or Iroquois Confederacy. They are an Iroquoian-speaking Indigenous people of North America, with communities in southeastern Canada and northern New York State, primarily around Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. As one of the five original members of the Iroquois League, the Kanienʼkehá꞉ka are known as the Keepers of the Eastern Door – the traditional guardians of the Iroquois Confederation against invasions from the east. ''Mohawk Girls'' is a comedy-drama series developed by Tracey Deer based on her 2005 documentary ''Mohawk Girls''. The program premiered on OMNI Television and on APTN in the fall of 2014 and entered its fourth season in 2016. Maude Michaud (born December 23, 1983) is a Canadian screenwriter, filmmaker and actress. She is best known for her first feature-length film ''Dys-'' (2014), which she wrote, directed, produced and edited. Early life Maude Michaud is from Greenfield Park, Quebec. She began drama lessons when she was nine years old. By the age of sixteen, she made her first short film, ''Finding Hope'', which was chosen for the official selection in Toronto's International Teen Movie Festival. Mohawk (; ''Kanienʼkéha'', " anguageof the Flint Place") is an Iroquoian language currently spoken by around 3,500 people of the Mohawk nation, located primarily in current or former Haudenosaunee territories, predominately Canada (southern Ontario and Quebec), and to a lesser extent in the United States (western and northern New York). The word "Mohawk" is an exonym.
