Joseph Kennedy (born 1969) is a Scottish Anglican priest and academic. Since 2011, he has been vicar of St Saviour's Church, Oxton in the Church of England's Diocese of Chester. Having served in parish ministry and as a chaplain to two Cambridge University colleges, he was Principal of the College of the Resurrection from 2008 to 2011. In March 2024, he was announced as the next Bishop of Burnley, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Blackburn. Early life and education Kennedy was born in 1969 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Joseph Peter Kennedy (15 November 1925 – 17 September 1986) was an English professional footballer who played at centre half for the majority of his career, virtually all of which was spent at West Bromwich Albion. Career Club career Born in Cleator Moor, Cumberland, Kennedy represented St. Patrick's School in Whitehaven, as well as Whitehaven & District Boys. He joined Cleator Moor Celtic in 1941, then Workington the following year. Kennedy had trials at Brentford and Millwall in 1943 and 1944 respectively, before moving to non-league Gravesend for the 1944–45 season. Joseph Darley Kennedy (May 24, 1979 – November 23, 2007) was an American Major League Baseball left-handed pitcher. He pitched from 2001 to 2007 for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Colorado Rockies, Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Toronto Blue Jays. Joseph Everett Kennedy (October 8, 1930 – June 19, 1997) was a Georgia State Senator born in Claxton, Georgia, United States. Biography Personal life Kennedy attended Claxton schools and graduated from Claxton High School in 1947. After graduation he attended Georgia Military College where he graduated in 1949. Following his time at GMC, Kennedy became a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Bronze Star, and two Battle Stars.
