Walter George Bailey Distinguished Service Order, DSO, Military Cross, MC and two Bars (9 February 1890 – 20 July 1974), known as Joe Bailey, was an English professional association football, footballer who made over 180 appearances in the Southern Football League, Southern League and the Football League for Reading F.C., Reading. An inside forward, he represented England at England national amateur football team, amateur level and was an all-round sportsman, playing cricket for Berkshire County Cricket Club, Berkshire and Oxfordshire County Cricket Club, Oxfordshire, Field hockey, hockey for Oxfordshire and later coaching cricket. Joseph Henry Russell Bailey, 2nd Baron Glanusk (26 October 1864 – 11 January 1928), was a British Army officer and peer. Early life Bailey was the eldest son of Sir Joseph Bailey, 2nd Baronet, who was created Baron Glanusk in 1899, when his children received the style ''the Honourable''. Joseph Bailly (7 April 1774 – 21 December 1835) was a fur trader and a member of an important French Canadian family that included his uncle, Charles-François Bailly de Messein. Bailly was one of several Canadian from prominent families who were important in the western fur trade. In 1822, he established a trading post near present-day Porter, Indiana, making him the foremost pioneer of that area. Early history and ancestors Joseph Bailly was an early fur trader on the Great Lakes. He and his children had significant influence as the region transitioned from English colonialism to frontier expansion of the United States. Joseph Bailey (May 6, 1825March 21, 1867) was a civil engineer who served as a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Early life Bailey was born near the town of Pennsville in Morgan County, Ohio. He earned a civil engineering degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, then moved to Wisconsin and became a civil engineer and lumberman. After successfully building a log dam on the Wisconsin River for use by lumber raftsmen, he and his wife, Mary, purchased several tracts of land in Kilbourn, Wisconsin (now Wisconsin Dells). Joseph Weldon Bailey, Sr. (October 6, 1862April 13, 1929), was a United States senator, United States Representative, lawyer, and Bourbon Democrat who was famous for his speeches extolling conservative causes, such as opposition to woman suffrage or restrictions on child labor. He served as a Congressional Representative between 1891 and 1901, and as the House minority leader from 1897 until 1899. In 1901, he was elected to the Senate, serving until 1913. Historian Elna C. Green says that Bailey was known in Texas as a rigorous defender of states' rights, constitutional conservatism, and governmental economy.
