Jorge De León (baseball)
Jorge Luis de León (born August 15, 1987) is a Dominican former professional baseball relief pitcher. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Houston Astros. Career Houston Astros Signed by scouts Julio Linares and Sergio Beltre, De León began his professional career as a shortstop in 2006, playing for the DSL Astros, hitting .230 in 56 games. Again with the DSL Astros in 2007, De León hit .190 in 52 games. He moved stateside in 2008, playing for the Greeneville Astros and hitting .235 in 32 games. In 2009, he played for the Tri-City ValleyCats and the Lexington Legends, hitting a combined .206 in 66 games. He converted to pitching for the 2010 season, making 23 appearances for the ValleyCats and going 2–1 with a 0.64 ERA. De León was called up to the majors for the first time on August 8, 2013. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Atlantic League Of Professional Baseball
The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) is a professional independent baseball league based in the United States. It is an official MLB Partner League based in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States. The Atlantic League's corporate headquarters is located at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The Atlantic League operates in cities not served by Major League Baseball (MLB) or Minor League Baseball (MiLB) teams; most of its teams are within suburbs and exurbs too close to other teams in the organized baseball system to have minor league franchises of their own. The Atlantic League requires cities to have the market for a 4,000 to 7,500-seat ballpark and for the facility to be maintained at or above Triple-A standards. The Sugar Land Space Cowboys are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros Major League Baseball club. They are located in Sugar Land, Texas, part of the Greater Houston metropolitan area, and play their home games at Constellation Field. The team began play as the Sugar Land Skeeters in 2012 as an expansion team of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB), an independent baseball league. The Oklahoma City Dodgers are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
