Jorge Sanjinez Lenz
Jorge Sanjinez Lenz (January 24, 1917 – August 24, 2020) was a Peruvian veteran who participated as a military volunteer in World War II, on the side of the Allies of World War II, Allies for the End of World War II in Europe, liberation of Europe from the Axis Powers. He enlisted in the Independent Belgian Brigade, Piron Brigade in the Free Belgian forces. Early years He was born on January 24, 1917, in Moquegua, Peru. His childhood passed through periods in his country and in Bolivia. Second World War In December 1942, in the midst of the Second World War, Sanjinez attended the Belgian embassy in Lima to enroll in the rebel camp that the government of the European country was promoting, along with other governments in exile, to end the Nazi occupation. The then President of Peru, Manuel Prado Ugarteche, accepted his decision and authorised Sanjinez. The Western Front was a military theatre of World War II encompassing Denmark, Norway, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. The Embassy of France in Peru (french: Ambassade de France au Pérou, es, Embajada de Francia en Perú) is the diplomatic mission of France in Peru. The current French ambassador to Peru is Marc Giacomini. History Both countries established relations in 1826 and have maintained them since. Relations were severed once during World War II with the French State of Philippe Pétain, with Peru instead establishing relations with Free France and normalizing its relations with said government after the war, elevating the relations to embassy level. For the first half of the 20th century, the French legation was located at the Quinta Heeren. In 1973, Peru again severed diplomatic relations with France in protest of French nuclear testing in the South Pacific Ocean. The rupture lasted until 1975. The Normandy landings were the landing operations and associated airborne operations on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allies of World War II, Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Compañía de Aviación Faucett, colloquially known simply as Faucett Perú or Faucett, was a Peruvian airline. It was headquartered on the grounds of Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima.
