Jorge Muñoz (Peruvian Politician)
Jorge Vicente Martín Muñoz Wells (born 13 April 1962) is a Peruvian lawyer and politician who served as mayor of Lima from January 2019 until his removal from office by the National Jury of Elections in April 2022. He previously served as mayor of Miraflores from 2011 to 2018. Early life and education Muñoz was born in the middle-to upscale district of Miraflores District, Lima on 13 April 1962. His parents were Julio Germán Muñoz Valdivieso and Teresa María Molly Wells Leguía. On his mother's side, he is the great-grandson of Roberto Leguía y Salcedo, the brother of President Augusto B. Leguía, who ruled Peru from 1919 to 1930. Upon completing his high school education at the Colegio Nuestra del Carmen "Carmelitas", Muñoz was admitted to the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru to study law. Martín Alberto Vizcarra Cornejo (; born 22 March 1963) is a Peruvian engineer and politician who served as President of Peru from 2018 to 2020. 2016 Peruvian General Election
General elections were held in Peru on 10 April 2016 to determine the president, vice-presidents, composition of the Congress of the Republic of Peru and the Peruvian representatives of the Andean Parliament. In the race for the presidency, incumbent President Ollanta Humala was ineligible for re-election due to constitutional term limits. Popular Force candidate Keiko Fujimori, daughter of former President Alberto Fujimori, was the leading candidate in the first round with almost 40 per cent of the vote, but fell short of the 50 per cent majority required to avoid a second round.
