Jordan Township, Warren County, Indiana
Jordan Township is one of twelve townships in Warren County, Indiana, United States. According to the 2010 census, its population was 247 and it contained 105 housing units. It is almost entirely agricultural and contains no incorporated towns. History Jordan Township was created in 1850 from a section of the adjacent Liberty Township. At this time the land was marshy and not considered very good for farming, and was used largely for grazing livestock. Starting around 1880, some of the higher ground began to be farmed, and as the population increased this was expanded. The grain grown was either fed to livestock or hauled by wagon to elevators at Ambia, West Lebanon, or Rossville, Illinois. Jordan Township is a civil township of Antrim County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 992 at the 2010 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and , or 0.41%, is water. Communities Chestonia was a town that once stood near the present-day junction of M-66 and East Old State Road. The town was founded when the Detroit and Charlevoix Railroad built a station at the town site. A post office was built near the depot and continued to operate until the 1960s. Today, Chestonia is but a ghost of its former self. No structures from the original town still stand, and the railroad grade is barely noticeable through the overgrowth of trees and weeds. Jordan Township is a township in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 850 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Williamsport metropolitan statistical area. History Jordan Township was formed from the eastern part of Franklin Township on February 7, 1854. It was named in honor of Alexander Jordan, who was president judge of the district court at the time of the formation of the township. The first permanent settler arrived in Jordan Township in 1812.
