Joie De Vivre is an American emo band from Rockford, Illinois, United States. History Joie De Vivre formed in 2007. Since then, they have released two full-length albums, an EP, and several splits. The band temporarily broke up in 2011, during which time they finished their sophomore album, ''We're All Better Than This''. Following completion of the album, the band reunited in 2012 and completed a tour of Europe in June / July 2012. Since 2012, they have released two splits, one with Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) and Prawn. While still an active band since 2012, they've limited their activity to spot shows around the Midwest. Joie de Vivre (Japanese ジョワドヴィーヴル, May 13, 2009 – May 29, 2013) was a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year-old in 2011 she was rated the best filly of her generation in Japan, after winning both of her races including the Hanshin Juvenile Fillies. In the following spring she ran third in the Tulip Sho and sixth in the Oka Sho before her season was curtailed by injury. She returned in 2013 but failed to win, with her best effort coming on her final start when she finished a close fourth in the Victoria Mile. She died later that year. Background Joie de Vivre was a bay mare bred in Hokkaido by Northern Farm. During her racing career she carried the black, yellow, pink and red colours of Sunday Racing and was trained by Hiroyoshi Matsuda. She was ridden in most of her races by Yuichi Fukunaga. Joie de Vivre Hospitality is a hotel and restaurant company based in San Francisco, California, and the second-largest operator of boutique hotels in the United States. History The company was founded in 1987 by Chip Conley, then 26, after he became "disillusioned" with the corporate real estate market 2½ years out of Stanford Business School.
