Johor Bahru
Johor Bahru (), colloquially referred to as JB, is the capital city of the state of Johor, Malaysia. It is located at the southern end of Peninsular Malaysia,along the north bank of the Straits of Johor, opposite of the city-state Singapore. The city has a population of 1,711,191 people within an area of 220 km2. Johor Bahru is adjacent to the city of Iskandar Puteri and Pasir Gudang, together with their surrounding areas anchoring Malaysia's second largest urban agglomeration, Iskandar Malaysia, with a population of 2,500,000. Plentong
Plentong is a mukim in Johor Bahru District, Johor, Malaysia. History It began as a Kangchu settlement known as Tey Chu Kang in 1859 and then an old Chinese new village that is now a busy town in Johor. Geography Mukim Plentong which covers Permas Jaya, Pasir Gudang etc. is the most populous mukim in Johor and one of the most populous in Malaysia with over 500,000 residents. It covers an area of 202 km2. Plentong village suffered extensive flooding due to a poor water drainage system. The government cooperated with KTM Berhad (Malaysian Train Service Company) to rebuild the KTM Plentong Bridge in order to facilitate the flow of Sungai Plentong during rainy season. The whole project cost about 50 million and as of July 2009, the train bridge is in the early stage of construction. Taman Johor Jaya is a suburb in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. Johor Jaya consists of mainly residential zones, but it also has light industrial and commercial zones. Development history Johor Jaya was developed by Housing Developer Daiman Development Berhad, a subsidiary of Daiman Group. Construction and development works started in 1983. The first phase of development focused mainly on the construction of single storey terrace houses. Construction of the houses completed in 1987, but residents were initially hesitant to move into their houses due to reports of house break-ins.
