''Johnno'' is a semi-autobiographical novel written by Australian author David Malouf and was first published in 1975. It was Malouf's first novel. In 2004 it was selected by the Brisbane City Council as the joint-winner of the annual ''One Book One Brisbane'' competition to find the book that best represents Brisbane. ''Johnno'' shared the honours with another, more recent, debut novel, ''The Girl Most Likely'' by Rebecca Sparrow. The book has been adapted for the stage. It premiered at Brisbane's La Boite Theatre in 2006 and then transferred to the Derby Playhouse. Johnno Dean is a fictional character from the British soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played originally by Mark Powley. He first appeared in October 2002, and from April 2003 was replaced by Colin Wells until his exit on 22 July 2005. The character returned on 26 to 31 October 2017 for a guest stint to coincide with the exit of his former wife, Frankie Osborne (Helen Pearson). Casting Mark Powley originally played Johnno but the role was recast in 2003 with Colin Wells. Hollyoaks did not anticipate Johnno becoming a central character. Powley could not renew his contract due to commitments in place to other projects. John Richard "Johno" Johnson GCSG (26 July 1930 – 9 August 2017) was an Australian politician. He served as President of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1978 to 1991. Career Born in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, he was a grocer and trade union official before entering politics. He married Pauline Christina Russell, with whom he adopted two sons and two daughters. He served as director of the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney and was chair of the Catholic Newspaper Company, publishers of ''The Catholic Weekly''. He was also a member of the boards of NSW Lotteries and Cancer Council Australia. In 1976, he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council for the Labor Party, having been Treasurer of the New South Wales party branch. John "Johnno" Stuntz (1884–1917) was an Australian pioneer rugby league footballer and soldier who served in World War I and died on the Western Front. A national and state representative winger, his club career was played with Eastern Suburbs, Western Suburbs and South Sydney in Australia, as well as one season with English club, Warrington. He played for New South Wales in the very first rugby match run by the newly created 'New South Wales Rugby Football League' which had just split away from the established New South Wales Rugby Football Union.
