Johnny Walsh (Gaelic Footballer)
John Bernard Walsh (20 August 1909 – 23 June 1998) was an Irish people, Irish Gaelic footballer. His All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, championship career with the Kerry GAA, Kerry senior team spanned thirteen seasons from 1932 until 1944. Career Walsh first played competitive football for the Ballylongford GAA, Ballylongford club. He won a number of North Kerry Senior Football Championship, North Kerry senior championship medals with the club towards the end of his career. As a member of the Shannon Rangers GAA, Shannon Rangers divisional team Walsh won two Kerry Senior Football Championship, county senior championship medals. Walsh made his inter-county debut during the 1932 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, 1932 championship. Over the course of the next thirteen seasons he won five All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, All-Ireland medals, beginning with wins in 1932 and 1937 before winning three successive championships from 1939 to 1941. 1939 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1939 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 53rd staging of Ireland's premier Gaelic football knock-out competition. Galway entered the championship as defending champions; however, they were beaten by Mayo in the Connacht final. Kerry were the winners. Ballylongford Gaelic Footballers
Ballylongford (historically ''Bealalongford'', from ) is a village near Listowel in northern County Kerry, Ireland. Geography The village is situated near the estuary of the Ballyline River, on Ballylongford Bay, a tidal estuary of the River Shannon, close to Carrigafoyle Island and on the coast road between Tarbert and the seaside town of Ballybunion. The farmland in the area is used primarily for dairying, which is a mainstay of the local economy. Three kilometers to the north, on Carrigafoyle Island, stands the castle and anchorage commemorated in the name of the village. For centuries, Ballylongford shared the political, military and religious fate of the castle and the nearby Franciscan Lislaughtin Abbey. This article chronologically lists players who have captained the senior Kerry county football team in the Munster Senior Football Championship and the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. If a player captained Kerry in multiple games in a year but that captaincy was broken by an absence from the starting line up, then there will be separate entries for that player for that year.
