Johnny Carroll (born John Lewis Carrell; October 23, 1937January 13, 1995) was an American rockabilly musician. Biography Born John Lewis Carrell in Cleburne, Texas, Carrell's last name was printed incorrectly as Carroll in his first recording with Decca Records and he thereafter used that spelling of his name professionally. Carroll began recording for Decca in the middle of the 1950s. He released several singles, none of which saw significant success, though they are now critically acclaimed.Johnny Carrollat Allmusic His records were eclipsed by the success of other rockabilly and early rock & roll musicians such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash. His career ended toward the end of the 1950s, but he made a comeback in 1974 with a Gene Vincent tribute song. He continued to record well into the 1980s. Johnny Carroll (musician) is an Irish musician, known as a trumpet player active since the 1960s. Nicknamed ''Man with the Golden Trumpet'', Carroll is a native of Castlerea, County Roscommon. Encouraged by his father, he joined the local brass band, aged 12. He subsequently joined the Pioneer Aces, an Irish showband The Irish showband was a dance band format popular in Ireland from the mid-1950s to mid-1980s. The showband was based on the internationally popular six- or seven-piece dance band. The band's basic repertoire included standard dance numbers and ..., and began his professional career aged 13. Renamed The Premier Aces, they topped the charts in Irish and the UK but were also one of the first bands to break America. When they disbanded, Carroll formed The Magic Band. John Peter Carroll (28 May 1924 – 17 October 2001) was an Irish footballer who played as a centre-forward for Limerick, West Ham United and Corby Town. Footballing career Carroll played for Limerick before signing for West Ham in 1948 along with his fellow countrymen, Danny McGowan and Fred Kearns. He made his debut against Sheffield Wednesday on 30 August 1948. Carroll played only five times in his West Ham career in all competitions without scoring. In 1949 he moved to Corby Town. Johnny Carroll (Gaelic Footballer)
John Carroll (born 1941) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. He played with club side Dohenys, divisional side Carbery and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. Playing career Carroll first played Gaelic football at club level with Dohenys. He won several West Cork JFC titles before winning a Cork JFC medal in 1966. Carroll's performances in the junior grade resulted in him being drafted onto the Carbery divisional team and he won two Cork SFC titles. He completed the full set of championship medals when he won a Cork IFC title with Dohenys in 1972. Carroll's inter-county career with Cork began as a member of the junior team in 1961. His performances in this grade resulted in him being drafted onto the senior team for the 1964 Munster final. Carroll won consecutive Munster SFC medals in 1966 and 1967 and came on as a substitute when Cork were beaten by Meath in the 1967 All-Ireland final.
