John Zinser (game Designer)
John Zinser is an American game designer who has worked primarily on collectible card games and role-playing games. Career In 1992, Jolly Blackburn added John Zinser and David Seay as partners in Alderac Entertainment Group. In 1994, Zinser was working on an original CCG, ''Legend of the Five Rings'', which began as an idea from a conversation between Zinser and Seay discussing the 1980 RPG ''Bushido''. Blackburn left Alderac in 1995 because he felt that Zinser and Seay were looking for success in the CCG industry while he wanted to keep the company fun and small and focus on ''Knights of the Dinner Table''. According to Zinser, he wanted the in debt company to grow at a faster pace than Blackburn was comfortable with. so, a split was agreed upon, with Blackburn leaving with the rights to ''Knights of the Dinner Table'' and a few other properties. History When Shane Lacy Hensley decided to create a 19th-century miniatures game he contacted Charles Ryan's company Chameleon Eclectic about publishing it. The result was '' Fields of Honor: The American War for Independence'' (1994), published in conjunction with Chameleon Eclectic, who dealt with distribution and other things that Hensley was not ready for, but ownership of the game remained with a new company that Hensley had created called Pinnacle Entertainment Group. Ryan Dancey
Ryan S. Dancey is a businessman who has worked primarily in the collectible card game and role-playing game industries. He was vice president in charge of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' at Wizards of the Coast. When the publisher of Dungeons & Dragons was facing bankruptcy, Dancey helped negotiate sale of the property to Wizards of the Coast. Dancey promoted the D&D's open gaming license (OGL), which reversed the policy from opposing third-party publications to supporting them. Career Dancey was the owner of distributor Isomedia Inc, which was helping to fund ''Legend of the Five Rings'' (1995), and he joined in on the project. The Five Rings Publishing Group (FRPG) was formed as a spin-out of Alderac Entertainment Group and ISOMEDIA. History In 1996, Alderac Entertainment Group (AEG) and ISOMEDIA divested themselves of their joint operating venture, and created Five Rings Publishing Group. Using the joint venture the two companies had co-created the ''Legend of the Five Rings Collectible Card Game'' in 1995, and realized that in order to continue to successfully publish the game that a stand-alone company focused on the game-publishing business was the best solution. FRPG was incorporated in the spring of 1996, and was funded by a pool of investors recruited in the Seattle area by Robert (Bob) Abramowitz, who became the CEO of the new company. ''Knights of the Dinner Table'' (''KoDT'') is a comic book/strip created by Jolly R. Blackburn and published by Kenzer & Company. It primarily focuses on a group of role playing gamers and their actions at the gaming table, which often result in unfortunate, but humorous consequences in the game. The name is a parody of King Arthur's Round Table reinforced by the truism that roleplaying aficionados often end up sitting round their host's dinner table as it is the only one large enough to accommodate the party (4 to 8 people typically). ''Bushido'' is a Samurai role-playing game set in Feudal Japan, originally designed by Robert N. Charrette and Paul R.
