John Winter (architect)
John Winter (16 May 1930 – 12 November 2012) was a British architect born in Norwich who lived and worked in London. He was well known for his modernist designs, and was reported to have never have had a planning application refused. Winter had two sons, Timothy (now Abdul-Hakim Murad), Henry, the football correspondent for ''The Daily Telegraph'', and a daughter, Martha, an artist. Career Winter started his architectural career in Norwich where he completed a pupillage under an Arts and Crafts architect. From 1950 to 1953 he studied at the Architectural Association in London and subsequently undertook national service with the Royal Engineers and learned to weld. He returned to education in the U.S. where he studied at Yale and then moved to San Francisco, where he worked for both Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Charles Eames. John Winter (cricketer)
John Arundell Winter (28 July 1851 – 15 May 1914) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Somerset County Cricket Club in 1884. He was born at Ash Priors, Taunton, Somerset and he died at Hampton Wick, Middlesex. Winter played as a lower-order batsman and an occasional bowler in amateur cricket matches in Somerset in the 1870s, but made only one appearance for the Somerset first-class county side, the first game of the 1884 season against Kent, in which he scored 4 and 0, took one catch and did not bowl. Earlier he had had a military career, joining the 70th Foot regiment as a lieutenant in 1871. John Winter is an Australian film and television writer, director and producer. He is best known for producing '' Rabbit-Proof Fence'', '' Doing Time for Patsy Cline'' and '' Paperback Hero''. His directorial debut '' Black & White & Sex'' premiered at the 2011 Sydney Film Festival with its international premiere at the 41st International Film Festival Rotterdam. The film won the 'Best Experimental' at the 2012 ATOM Awards. Career Winter began his career at the ABC Television, where he was a production manager. Sir John Winter or Wintour (about 1600–1676) was an English ironmaster and landowner at Lydney in Gloucestershire, who was an ardent supporter of Charles I during the English Civil War. Biography John Winter was the grandson of William Wynter, Vice-Admiral of England, who was granted the manor of Lydney in the Forest of Dean. His parents were Sir Edward Winter and Anne, daughter of the Earl of Worcester. She was founding president of the Writers' Club in 1892, and president of the Society of Women Journalists in 1901 to 1903. Louis Krages, more commonly known by his pseudonym John Winter, (2 August 1949 – 11 January 2001) was a German racing driver and businessman. Career Krages used the racing pseudonym "John Winter" to prevent his family, mainly his mother, from learning about his "hobby". As John Winter, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1985 with the Porsche 956 of Joest Racing, with Klaus Ludwig and Paolo Barilla. Vice-Admiral Sir John Wynter or Winter (1555–1638) was an explorer and naval officer in the English Navy Royal. As a ship's captain in the Drake expedition of 1577-1580, he was the first European to cross the Strait of Magellan from west to east.
