John Wilson (footballer, Born 1914)
John Richard Montague Wilson (30 October 1914 – 2 November 1988) was an English footballer who played on the inside-right for West Bromwich Albion, Port Vale, Wigan Athletic, and Shrewsbury Town. Career Wilson played for West Bromwich Albion before joining Port Vale in May 1935. He failed to gain a regular first-team spot and having made just the three Second Division appearances in the 1935–36 season he was transferred away from The Old Recreation Ground to Wigan Athletic in December 1935. Later he moved to Shrewsbury Town. Lanchester, County Durham
Lanchester is a village and civil parish in County Durham, England, west of Durham and from Consett. It had a population at the 2011 Census of 4,054. Although there was a small drift mine on the edge of the village which closed in the 1970s, Lanchester's economy was mainly based on agriculture. It is now a residential village in which a number of housing estates have been developed since the late 1960s. In professional football, a transfer is the action taken whenever a player under contract moves between clubs. It refers to the transferring of a player's registration from one association football club to another. In general, the players can only be transferred during a transfer window and according to the rules set by a governing body (fulfilling the requirements of FIFA, continental and national bodies regulating the purchasing and selling clubs). The Old Recreation Ground
The Old Recreation Ground was a football stadium located in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England, and home to Port Vale F.C. from 1913 to 1950. It was the sixth ground the club used. Structure and facilities The stadium was in rather bad condition, especially following years of neglect during World War II. The dressing rooms were bare, there were no toilet facilities throughout the entire ground, and racing pigeons were kept by '' The Sentinel'' and a number of supporters so as to relay the scoreline to different parts of the city.
