John Warren (American Football)
John Sheppard Warren (born November 8, 1960) is a former American football punter in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Tennessee. Early years Warren attended Wayne County High School where he was considered the state's best punter. Additionally, he was the team's placekicker. He practiced baseball and was drafted out of high school by the Cincinnati Reds. College careers After receiving Division I NCAA scholarships offers from different schools, he settled on the University of Tennessee. His best season came as a freshman, registering 52 punts for 2,106 yards and a 40.5-yard average. In his last two years he was a backup behind Jimmy Colquitt, with Warren handling the directional punts. He finished his college career posting 42 games, 133 punts, 5,289 yards and a 39.8-yard average. He also practiced baseball. Punter (football)
A punter (P) in gridiron football is a special teams player who receives the snapped ball directly from the line of scrimmage and then punts (kicks) the football to the opposing team so as to limit any field position advantage. This generally happens on a fourth down in American football and a third down in Canadian football. Punters may also occasionally take part in fake punts in those same situations, when they throw or run the football instead of punting. Skills and usage The purpose of the punt is to force the team that is receiving the kick to start as far as possible from the kicking team's end zone. Accordingly, the most effective punts land just outside the receiving team's end zone and land either out of bounds (making it impossible to advance the ball until the next play) or after being kicked exceptionally high (allowing the kicking team time to run down the field and prevent the punt returner from advancing the ball). Danny White
Wilford Daniel White (born February 9, 1952) is a former quarterback and punter for the Dallas Cowboys and an American football coach in the Arena Football League. He has been the color commentator for Cowboys games on Compass Media Networks' America's Team Radio Network since the 2011 season. He played college football at Arizona State University. Early years A graduate of Westwood High School in Mesa, Arizona, White did not receive a lot of notice while being the starter at quarterback, due to his perception as a better baseball prospect. Mike Saxon
Michael Eric Saxon (born July 10, 1962) is a former American football punter in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings. He played college football at San Diego State University. He won Super Bowl XXVII with the Cowboys over the Buffalo Bills. Early years Saxon attended Arcardia High School, where he played as a wide receiver, defensive back and punter. He also practiced baseball. After graduation he moved on to Pasadena City College, punting for the 1980 Metropolitan Conference champion. He was a two-time All-Metro Conference selection. The 1984 NFL season was the 65th regular season of the National Football League. The Colts relocated from Baltimore, Maryland to Indianapolis, Indiana before the season. The Los Angeles Raiders were a professional American football team that played in Los Angeles from 1982 to 1994 before relocating back to Oakland, California, where the team played from its inaugural 1960 season to the 1981 season and then again from 1995 to 2019.
