John Spencer-Churchill, 7th Duke Of Marlborough
John Winston Spencer-Churchill, 7th Duke of Marlborough (2 June 18224 July 1883), styled Earl of Sunderland from 1822 to 1840 and Marquess of Blandford from 1840 to 1857, was a British Conservative cabinet minister, politician, peer, and nobleman. He was the paternal grandfather of Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill. Background and education John Spencer-Churchill was born at Garboldisham Hall, Norfolk, the eldest son of George Spencer-Churchill, 6th Duke of Marlborough, and Lady Jane Stewart, daughter of Admiral George Stewart, 8th Earl of Galloway. He was educated at Eton College and Oriel College, Oxford. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Queen's Own Oxfordshire Yeomanry in 1842 and was promoted to Captain on 22 April 1847. John Albert Edward William Spencer-Churchill, 10th Duke of Marlborough, (18 September 1897 – 11 March 1972), styled Marquess of Blandford until 1934, was a British military officer and peer. Early life He was born in London on 18 September 1897 as the first of two sons born to Charles Spencer-Churchill, 9th Duke of Marlborough and his first wife, the former Consuelo Vanderbilt, an American railroad heiress. John George Spencer-Churchill (31 May 1909 – 23 June 1992) was an English painter, sculptor, and stockbroker who was the nephew of Sir Winston Churchill. Early life Spencer-Churchill was the son of John Strange Spencer-Churchill (1880–1947) and Lady Gwendoline Theresa Mary Bertie (1885–1941). His sister Clarissa married Anthony Eden in 1952, becoming Lady Eden in 1954 when he was made a Knight of the Garter, wife of the Prime Minister when Winston Churchill retired in 1955, and later the Countess of Avon in 1961 on his elevation to the peerage. John George Vanderbilt Henry Spencer-Churchill, 11th Duke of Marlborough, (13 April 1926 – 16 October 2014) was a British peer. He was the elder son of the 10th Duke of Marlborough and his wife, the Hon. Alexandra Mary Hilda Cadogan. He was known as "Sunny" after his courtesy title of Earl of Sunderland. His principal seat was Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. He was ranked 224th in the ''Sunday Times Rich List'' 2004, with an estimated wealth of £185 million. John Kemys George Thomas Spencer-Churchill (27 December 1835 – 9 August 1913) was an administrator in the British colonial service serving as Governor of Montserrat and Commissioner of St Kitts and Nevis. Spencer-Churchill was the second son of Lord Charles Spencer-Churchill born on 27 December 1835. He was educated at Winchester College and joined the Army in 1854 serving at the siege of Sebastapol.
