John Simpson (footballer, Born 1918)
John Simpson (27 October 1918 – 21 June 2000) was an English-born association football, footballer who played as a defender (association football)#Full back, left back in The Football League in the 1940s and 1950s. After playing as an amateur for Hull City F.C., Hull City reserves, he started his league career with Huddersfield Town A.F.C., Huddersfield Town and then moved to York City F.C., York City, first playing for them in 1947–48 Football League, 1947–48. He went on to play over 200 games for the Minstermen. He retired through injury in 1954. During the war, John was in the Army Physical Training Corps and guested for Plymouth Argyle F.C., Plymouth Argyle, Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic F.C., Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic, Portsmouth F.C., Portsmouth, Southampton F.C., Southampton, Leyton Orient F.C., Leyton Orient, Aldershot F.C., Aldershot and Leeds United F.C., Leeds United. Hedon
Hedon is a town and civil parish in Holderness in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately east of Hull city centre. It lies to the north of the A1033 road at the crossroads of the B1240 and B1362 roads. It is particularly noted for the parish church of St. Augustine, known as the 'King of Holderness', which is a Grade I listed building. In 1991, the town had a population of 6,066, which had risen to 6,332 by the time of the 2001 UK census. By the 2011 UK census, Hedon parish had a population of 7,100, History Hedon is not mentioned in the ''Domesday Book'' which leads to the belief that it was a new town created by the Normans as a port. Leyton () is a town in east London, England, within the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It borders Walthamstow to the north, Leytonstone to the east, and Stratford to the south, with Clapton, Hackney Wick and Homerton, across the River Lea, to the west. Bridlington is a coastal town and a civil parish on the Holderness Coast of the North Sea in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is about north of Kingston upon Hull, Hull and east of York. Hartlepool United
Hartlepool United Football Club is a professional association football club based in Hartlepool, County Durham, England. The team competes in League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system. They were founded in 1908 as Hartlepools United Football Athletic Company. West Hartlepool won the FA Amateur Cup in 1905 and after the club was dissolved in 1910 its assets and liabilities were subsequently taken over by Hartlepools United, who were then playing in the North Eastern League. Hartlepools United were elected into the Football League in 1921 and would spend the next 37 years in the Third Division North, at which point they were placed into the Fourth Division.
