Sir John Shelton
Sir John Shelton (1476/7 β 1539) of Shelton in Norfolk, England, was a courtier to King Henry VIII. Through his marriage to Anne Boleyn, a sister and co-heiress of Thomas Boleyn, 1st Earl of Wiltshire of Blickling Hall in Norfolk, he became an uncle of Queen Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII. He was appointed comptroller of the joint household of Princesses Mary and Elizabeth, the King's daughters, and together with his wife was Governor to the King's children. John Shelton (courtier)
Sir John Shelton (b. in or before 1503, d. 1558) was the eldest son of Sir John Shelton and Anne Shelton (courtier), Anne Boleyn, the aunt of Queen Anne Boleyn. John's sister, Margaret and Mary Shelton, Mary Shelton, who married Sir John Heveningham, was possibly the mistress of Henry VIII of England, Henry VIII of England during 1535. Shelton may have been High Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk as early as 1523, when he was 20 years old. He seems to have been overshadowed by his father's great wealth. Sir John senior had seen his star rise with the Boleyn family, when he and Lady Shelton acquired the custody of Princess Mary at Hatfield House. John Shelton (British Army Officer)
Colonel John Shelton (1790/91 β 13 May 1845) was an officer of the British Army who commanded the 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot during the First Anglo-Afghan War and was second-in-command to Major General William George Keith Elphinstone, Sir William Elphinstone. He was one of only a small number of British soldiers to survive the disastrous 1842 retreat from Kabul, in which a British army column of 4,500 men and 12,000 civilians was massacred by Afghan tribesmen as it attempted to march to Jalalabad. He was widely disliked as a tyrannical and ineffective commander whose failures led to the annihilation of his regiment and whose accidental death was cheered by his men, but he also had a deserved reputation for great physical bravery. John Shelton (born Edward Sheppard Price; May 18, 1915 β May 17, 1972) was an American actor. He appeared in more than thirty films from 1936 to 1952. Personal life Shelton was the son of Ernest Edward Price and grandson of creationist George McCready Price. He named one of his sons Darwin to "balance everything out". John Thomas Shelton (24 January 1905 β 1 May 1941) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda and South Melbourne. He was killed in action in Tobruk in 1941. "Jack A. Shelton" As a VFL footballer, he was sometimes known as "J. A. Shelton" (rather than "J. T. Jack Shelton (footballer)
John Shelton (1884 β 7 September 1918) was an English footballer who played as a right-half and inside-forward. He was the elder brother of George Shelton. He played for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 1908 FA Cup Final and later won minor cup competitions with Port Vale. Career Shelton was born in Wolverhampton in 1884 and played local football for Willenhall Pickwick and Crompton Rovers, before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1907. The 1907β08 season was highly successful for Shelton, he scored a hat-trick against Grimsby Town in December, and scored against Bradford City in the FA Cup Third Round to earn Wolves a replay. The club went on to reach the 1908 FA Cup Final at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, and Shelton played in the 3β1 victory over Newcastle United. John Shelton (April 1923 β April 1993) was an English painter and ceramic artist born in Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent. John Bailey Shelton MBE (19 March 1875 β 29 November 1958) was a British archaeologist who worked in the city of Coventry and a pioneer of rescue archaeology. Biography JB Shelton was born on 19 March 1875 in Kirkby Woodhouse, between Nottingham and Mansfield. His father was a farm labourer and John was one of 11 or 12 children, not all of whom survived childhood. He was educated at a Dame School near Kirkby Woodhouse, from 2 years of age, then at the local Board School. His formal education ended at aged 10 when, because of the poverty of his family, he went to work on Labour in Vain Farm near Bilsthorpe. He earned one shilling a week, plus his board, and, other than Christmas Day and Good Friday, had only one day off each year. Aged 12, he went to Nottingham Goose Fair to find work and was employed by the squire of Annesley Woodhouse.
