John Schmitt (American Football)
John Charles Schmitt (born November 12, 1942) is a former American football center in the National Football League (NFL) who played ten seasons for the New York Jets, from whom he started in Super Bowl III. He ended his career in 1974 with the Green Bay Packers. In sports, a starting lineup is an official list of the set of players who will participate in the event when the game begins. The players in the starting lineup are commonly referred to as ''starters'', whereas the others are ''substitutes'' or ''bench players''. The team finished with a 6–8 record under fourth-year head coach Dan Devine, a consecutive third-place finish in the NFC Central division.
