John Riley (Australian Footballer)
John Riley (born 23 April 1958) is an Australian scientist at the Defence Science and Technology Organisation and former Australian rules footballer who played with Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and North Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Scientist Riley played football for North Adelaide Football Club while he was studying at Flinders University. He was still finishing off his PhD in atomic physics when he was recruited to the Footscray Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He returned to Adelaide after only playing one match for Footscray. Riley completed an Australian Research Grants Scheme research fellowship, then worked in the development of instrumentation for the mining industry. Lockheed P-3 Orion
The Lockheed P-3 Orion is a four-engined, turboprop anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft developed for the United States Navy and introduced in the 1960s. The 1984 VFL season was the 88th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 31 March until 29 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. SANFL
The South Australian National Football League, or SANFL ( or ''S-A-N-F-L''), is an Australian rules football league based in the Australian state of South Australia. It is also the state's governing body for the sport. Originally formed as the South Australian Football Association on 30 April 1877, the SANFL is the oldest surviving football league of any code in Australia and is the 7th oldest club football league in the world. Consisting of a single division competition, since the admission of the Adelaide Crows AFL Reserves in 2014 the season, has been a 10-team, 18-round home-and-away (regular) season from April to September. Broadview, South Australia
Broadview is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and the City of Prospect. History The suburb was laid out in 1915 by C. H. Angas and K. D. Bowman. Broadview Post Office did not open until 20 November 1945 and closed in 1987. Geography Broadview lies astride Regency Road and has Hampstead Road as its eastern boundary. Demographics The 2006 Census by the Australian Bureau of Statistics counted 3,597 persons in Broadview on census night. Of these, 46.4% were male and 53.6% were female.
