John Ralston (born October 9, 1964) is a Canadian actor. Career Ralston's most notable roles are George Venturi on ''Life with Derek'', and his role as Mr. Avenir on ''Strange Days at Blake Holsey High''. He was also the lead on the 2010–12 HBO Canada series ''Living in Your Car''. Earlier in his career, Ralston was seen on the Toronto stage in a production of George F. Walker's ''Risk Everything'' in 1998. In 2006 and 2007, he was featured in Toyota Tundra truck commercials airing in Canada, and starred as Ming the Merciless in the 2007 Sci-Fi Channel original series '' Flash Gordon''. John R. Ralston (April 26, 1927 – September 14, 2019) was an American football player, coach, and sports executive. He served as the head football coach at Utah State University (1959–1962), Stanford University (1963–1971), and San Jose State University (1993–1996), compiling a career college football record of 97–81–4. Ralston also coached the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL) from 1972 to 1976, amassing a record of 34–33–3, and the Oakland Invaders of the United States Football League (USFL) in 1983 and part of the 1984 season, tallying a mark of 9–12. John Ralston (scientist)
John Ralston (born 20 June 1946) is a physical and colloid chemist with training in metallurgy, whose research embraces various aspects of interfacial science and engineering. He was made the Professor at the School of Chemical Technology at the University of South Australia (UniSA) in 1984. In addition, he was the Director of the Sir Ian Wark Research Institute of the UniSA between 1994 and 2012. Ralston was awarded South Australian of the Year in 2007 due to his research. John de Ralston was a 15th-century Scottish bishop and administrator. He was regarded as illegitimate, although today his parents are not known. Ralston appears in the records for the first time in 1426, where he is chaplain and secretary to Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Douglas.Borthwick, "Ralston, John (d. 1451/2)". Captain John Steel Ralston (27 April 1887 – 25 July 1918) was a Scottish World War I war hero and flying ace. After winning a Military Cross in 1916 for lifesaving gallantry while serving in the infantry, he was credited with 12 official aerial victories as a fighter pilot before he was killed in action. Biography Ralston was born in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland, the youngest of five children born to Thomas Binnie Ralston, an iron merchant, and his wife Mary Chalmers (née Steel), and was educated at The Glasgow Academy. During the First World War, Ralston originally served with the 8th Battalion, Scottish Rifles, being commissioned as a second lieutenant on 25 August 1915. John Morgan Ralston (c. 1881 – 17 April 1933) was an Australian baritone (or perhaps bass-baritone) singer noted for his work in musical comedies and Gilbert and Sullivan operas. Biography Ralston was born in Brisbane, the second son of John Ralston (died 1908), a marine pilot. He began singing as a boy soprano at St Mary's (Anglican) Church, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane in 1894 He began acting with Pollard's Lilliputian Opera Company, led by Tom "Pollard" Sullivan, which toured Australasia and the East with considerable success until its disbandment in 1905 in Perth after a tour of South Africa (during which he married the company's ''danseuse''). John Ralston (1789–1833) was a Scottish people, Scottish artist who spent most of his life and career in Manchester, England. He was primarily a Marine art, marine and Landscape painting, landscape painter, but his best-known works depict the city's Middle Ages, medieval and Early modern period, early modern architecture before its demolition and replacement during the Industrial Revolution.
