The John Paul II Pontifical Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences is a Roman Catholic pontifical institute of theological studies on marriage and family with affiliated campuses around the world. History In 1981, Pope John Paul II founded the Pontifical Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in the Apostolic Constitution ''Magnum Matrimonii Sacramentum'', as part of the effort to develop study on the themes around the marriage and family, as well as Catholic theology on the body. Livio Melina (born August 18, 1952 in Adria, Italy) is a priest of the Catholic Church and an Italian theologian. Biography Livio Melina was born in Adria in 1952. Carlo Caffarra (1 June 1938 – 6 September 2017) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church. He was Archbishop of Bologna from 2003 until 2015, when he retired.
