John Parke
John Grubb Parke (September 22, 1827 – December 16, 1900) was a United States Army engineer and a Union general in the American Civil War. Parke's Civil War service was closely associated with Ambrose E. Burnside, often serving him as chief of staff in major engagements such as Antietam, Fredericksburg and the Overland Campaign. Parke also held significant field commands during Burnside's North Carolina Expedition, Vicksburg and the battle of Fort Stedman as well as brief stints in command of the Army of the Potomac. Early life Parke was born in Coatesville, Chester County, Pennsylvania, to Francis G. and Sarah Parke. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1849 and was commissioned a brevet second lieutenant in the Corps of Topographical Engineers. John Parke (oboist)
John Parke (1745 – 2 August 1829) was an English oboist, performing at prominent concerts of the day. Life He was born in 1745; William Thomas Parke, also an oboist, was his younger brother. John Parke studied the oboe under Simpson, and musical theory under Charles Frederick Baumgarten. In 1768 he was appointed principal oboe at the King's Theatre; in the same year he played at the first Birmingham festival, and also at the Three Choirs Festival in Hereford. He continued to perform at the Three Choirs Festivals for thirty-five years. In 1768 Johann Christian Fischer, an oboist from Dresden, first came to London: his performances stimulated Parke to greater ambition, and he improved his style; two years later he succeeded Fischer as concerto player at Vauxhall Gardens. In 1771 he accepted an offer from David Garrick to become first oboe at Drury Lane Theatre. John Parke Custis
John Parke Custis (November 27, 1754 – November 5, 1781) was an American planter. He was a son of Martha Washington and stepson of George Washington. Childhood A son of Daniel Parke Custis, a wealthy planter with nearly three hundred enslaved persons and thousands of acres of land, and Martha Dandridge Custis, he was most likely born at White House, his parents' plantation on the Pamunkey River in New Kent County, Virginia.John T. John Parke (footballer)
John Parke (6 August 1937 – 27 August 2011) was a footballer, who played for Linfield, Hibernian, Sunderland, Vancouver Royal Canadians, KV Mechelen and the Northern Ireland national football team as a full back. Club career He started his professional footballing career in his native Northern Ireland with Cliftonville before joining their rivals Linfield in 1954. Having been a key player in the club's 'Seven Trophy' season of 1961/62, he moved to Scotland with Hibernian in 1963 where he made 23 appearances, scoring no goals. Parke moved to Sunderland in November 1964 and made his debut on 21 November, against Sheffield United in a 3–0 defeat at Bramall Lane. He went on to make 85 league appearances for the club. He joined Belgian club KV Mechelen before retiring in 1968.
