John McInnes (politician)
John McInnes (23 April 1878 – 30 September 1950) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the South Australian House of Assembly from 1918 to 1950, representing the electorates of West Torrens (1918–1938) and Hindmarsh (1938–1950). He was a member of the Labor Party throughout his career, apart from 1931 to 1934, when he represented the splinter Parliamentary Labor Party. He served as Speaker of the South Australian House of Assembly from 1924 to 1926. McInnes was born in Scotland and moved to South Australia as a child. He was the inaugural secretary of the South Australian Government General Workers' Association from 1905 to 1911. He also became president of the United Trades and Labour Council of South Australia in 1908. McInnes was then general secretary of the Liquor Trades Employees Union from 1914 to 1924. John MacInnes (Scottish Gaelic: ''Iain MacAonghuis'', ''Iain mac Ruairidh mhic Iain mhic Iain mhic Néill mhic Mhaol Mhoire mhic Iain mhic Mhaol Chaluim''), 3 April 1930 in Uig, Lewis – 10 May 2019, was a Scottish Gaelic scholar and authority on Scottish Gaelic oral tradition. He was born in Uig, Lewis, but grew up on Raasay, and took an active interest in Gaelic tradition while still young and made a conscious effort to seek it out amongst his family and community. In 1948, John MacInnes went to study at the University of Edinburgh and was awarded a scholarship in Gaelic established by the Church of Scotland. In 1958, MacInnes was appointed to a Junior Research Fellowship in the School of Scottish Studies and spent years conducting fieldwork amongst Gaelic speakers in Scotland and in Nova Scotia, Canada. John MacInnes is an Anglo-American screenwriter and director, noted for writing the script of the video game '' Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare''. Early life John was born in Syracuse, New York in 1969, moving with his mother Tina MacInnes to the United Kingdom in 1972. During the 1980s, John was well known as a top freestyle BMX rider, and was featured on the front cover of the magazine ''BMX Biker'' issue 11. In 1992 he graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London with an Honours Degree in Communications Studies and Sociology. Career John's career in the film industry began in 1986 as projectionist at the Rex Cinema in Wareham, Dorset. Soon after he began working in casting, establishing a mobile video business, specializing in screen-tests. John James MacInnes (July 1, 1925 – March 6, 1983) was a Canadians, Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender and National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA hockey head coach. He was born in Toronto, Ontario. Playing career MacInnes was a goalie at the University of Michigan, helping the Michigan Wolverines, Wolverines to a pair of league titles and a third-place finish at the 1950 NCAA championship. MacInnes also played for farm teams of the Boston Bruins and the Detroit Red Wings before becoming director of the Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ann Arbor Amateur Hockey League. He held that position until leaving to become head coach at Michigan Technological University. Coaching career MacInnes was the head coach of the Michigan Tech Huskies from the 1956-57 season through 1981-82.
