John McDonnell
John Martin McDonnell (born 8 September 1951) is a British politician who served as Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2015 to 2020. A member of the Labour Party, he has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Hayes and Harlington since 1997. McDonnell served as chair of the Socialist Campaign Group in Parliament and Labour Representation Committee; he also chaired the Public Services Not Private Profit Group. He is also parliamentary convenor of the Trade Union Co-ordinating Group of eight left-wing trade unions representing over half a million workers. McDonnell attempted to stand for the position of Labour Party leader following Tony Blair's resignation in 2007, but failed to get enough nominations. He was a candidate for the party leadership again in 2010 following Gordon Brown's resignation after Labour's electoral defeat, but withdrew in favour of Diane Abbott, feeling that he would be unable to secure enough nominations. John F. McDonnell (born 1938) is an American businessman, engineer, and philanthropist. McDonnell served as the chairman of the McDonnell Douglas Corporation from 1988 until its merger with Boeing in 1997 and its chief executive officer from 1988 until 1994. He was a corporate director at Boeing from the 1997 merger until 2012, when he reached the Boeing-mandated retirement age of 74. Colonel John Ronald MacDonell, (4 March 1899 – 5 September 1944) was a British Army officer who served as acting General Officer Commanding 1st Armoured Division during the Second World War. Military career MacDonell was commissioned into the 9th Queen's Royal Lancers on 21 February 1920. He was appointed adjutant of the Shropshire Yeomanry on 11 November 1928. During the Second World War, he commanded his regiment during the First Battle of Ruweisat Ridge in North Africa in July 1942. He briefly served as acting General Officer Commanding 1st Armoured Division in North Africa from 19 March 1944 to 24 March 1944. John Macdonnell
John Cotter Macdonnell (1821 - 9 September 1902) was Dean of Cashel from 1862 to 1873. Macdonnell was educated at Trinity College, Dublin and was placed in the first class in the final divinity examination in 1846. Further studies saw him receive the Master of Arts (MA) in 1855, Bachelor of Divinity (BD) in 1856, and the Doctorate of Divinity (DD) in 1860. He was ordained deacon in 1846 and priest in 1847, and began his career as a Curate at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin. He was the Incumbent Vicar of Laracor from 1854 to 1862 before his years as Dean 1862–1873. Captain John McDonell of Aberchalder (also spelled MacDonell; c. 1758-21 November 1809) was a soldier, judge, and political figure in Upper Canada following the American Revolution. He was elected as the first speaker for the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada. Early years John McDonell of Aberchalder was born at Aberchalder Lodge in Scotland, a son of Alexander MacDonell of Aberchalder. In 1773, he came to the Mohawk Valley of New York with his father and uncles. In 1775, during the American Revolution, McDonell was commissioned in the Royal Highland Emigrants. On 1 August 1778, he transferred to John Butler's Rangers. For a time, he served as paymaster at Fort Niagara. Johnny McDonnell (Gaelic Footballer)
John McDonnell was an Irish Gaelic footballer. His championship career at senior level with the Dublin county team spanned ten seasons from 1919 until 1934. McDonnell first played competitive football during a golden age for the O'Tooles club. In ten years from 1918 until 1928 he won nine county senior championship medals with the club before adding a tenth in 1931. Success at club level saw McDonnell join the Dublin senior team and he made his debut during the 1919 championship. Over the course of the next decade he had much success and won back-to-back All-Ireland medals in 1922 and 1923. He also won seven Leinster medals. His brother, Paddy McDonnell, was also an All-Ireland medal winner with Dublin. McDonnell's appearances record for Dublin was not broken until Stephen Cluxton became his county's most capped player against Meath in the National League on 17 October 2020. John McDonnell (born 26 March 1965 in Dublin) is an Irish football manager and former footballer. He most recently managed Drogheda United having also managed Dublin City, St Patrick's Athletic, Newry City, Shelbourne and been assistant manager of Faroe Islands. Nicknamed ''Johnny Mac'', he had an accomplished career as a footballer before entering management. The majority of his career was spent at St Patrick's Athletic and he captained the side to the 1996 League of Ireland Championship.
