John Loder (actor)
John Loder (born William John Muir Lowe; 3 January 1898 – 26 December 1988) was established as a British film actor in Germany and Britain before migrating to the United States in 1928 for work in the new talkies. He worked in Hollywood for two periods, becoming an American citizen in 1947. After living also in Argentina, he became a naturalized British citizen in 1959. Biography Early life Loder was born in 1898 in Knightsbridge, London. His father was W. H. M. Lowe, a British career army officer who achieved the rank of general. Patrick Pearse, the leader of the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin, Ireland, surrendered to him. Both were present at the surrender. His mother was Frances Broster Johnson (née de Salvo; 1857–1942), daughter of Francesco de Salvo of Palermo, Sicily and his English wife Emma Broster. John Loder (landowner)
John Loder (c. 1726 – 1805) was a clergyman, landowner and founder of the Old Berkshire Hunt. Family Loder was a descendant of a family that were landowners at Princes Harwell in the time of Elizabeth I of England. Education He was educated at John Roysse's Free School in Abingdon, (now Abingdon School) c. 1735–1742. He was M.A. Oriel College, Oxford. Career Loder was the hunting parson who established the Old Berkshire Hunt at Hinton Manor, where the kennels were located from 1760 to 1814. Loder passed on the mastership in 1800, to his son-in-law Robert Symonds. He was rector of Hinton Waldrist and lord of the manors of Hinton and Longworth. He was the owner of Balstone Park in Hinton Waldrist. He was a steward of the Old Abingdonian Club in 1758. John Loder (sound Engineer)
John F. Loder (7 April 1946 – 12 August 2005) was an English sound engineer, record producer and founder of Southern Studios, as well as a former member of EXIT and co-founder of the Southern Records distribution company with his wife Sue. He was also the studio engineer of choice for Crass and Crass Records, and was often considered to be the band's "ninth member". Loder was born near Plymouth and educated at boarding school before studying electrical engineering at London's City University. During his post-graduate work there, he became involved in early experiments in digital encoding of audio for the military. By 1970 he had joined EXIT, alongside Penny Rimbaud, utilising a one-track tape-recorder. This led to Loder eventually founding a record studio in his garage after the disbanding of EXIT in 1974. John Loder, 2nd Baron Wakehurst
John de Vere Loder, 2nd Baron Wakehurst, (5 February 1895 – 30 October 1970) was a British Army officer, politician and colonial administrator. After serving in the army, the Foreign Office, and as a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons, Wakehurst was appointed as the last British Governor of New South Wales, which he held from 1937 to 1946. Upon returning to Britain he was appointed Governor of Northern Ireland from 1952 to 1964. He was made a Knight of the Order of the Garter in 1962 and died in 1970.
