John Leigh (Wisconsin Politician)
John Leigh (December 20, 1827 – October 5, 1893) was an American lumberman and politician. Born in Dublin, Ireland, Leigh emigrated to the United States in 1838 and settled in Maine. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Oconto County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 38,965. Its county seat is Oconto. The county was established in 1851. Oconto County is part of the Green Bay, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Green Bay- Shawano, WI Combined Statistical Area. History First visited by French explorers in the 17th century, Oconto County is among the oldest settlements in Wisconsin.
