John Laughlin (Canadian Politician)
John Bell Laughlin (December 21, 1879 – August 19, 1941) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba, Conservative representative from 1927 to 1932, and again from 1936 to 1941. His father was also a member of the assembly from 1879 to 1881. He was born near Miami, Manitoba, the son of Andrew Laughlin and Rachel Bell. His parents had come to Manitoba from Ontario in 1877. Laughtlin was educated in Cartwright, Manitoba, Cartwright, at St. John's College, University of Manitoba, St. John's College and the University of Manitoba. He articled in law, was called to the Manitoba bar in 1905 and practised law in Cartwright. In 1909, he married Harriet Margaret McKay. Laughlin served as reeve for the Rural Municipality of Roblin. John Laughlin (New York Politician)
John Laughlin (March 14, 1856 – August 4, 1905) was an American politician from New York. Life John Laughlin was born in Newstead, New York on March 14, 1856. He attended the district schools, and Lockport Union School from 1874 to 1878. Then he studied law with Richard Crowley, was admitted to the bar in 1880, and practiced in Buffalo. He was a member of the New York State Senate (31st D.) from 1888 to 1891, sitting in the 111th, 112th, 113th and 114th New York State Legislatures. He was a delegate to the 1888 Republican National Convention. Clarence John Laughlin (1905 – January 2, 1985) was an American photographer best known for his surrealist photographs of the American South. Biography Early life Laughlin was born into a middle-class family in Lake Charles, Louisiana. His rocky childhood, southern heritage, and interest in literature influenced his work greatly. After losing everything in a failed rice-growing venture in 1910, his family was forced to relocate to New Orleans where Laughlin's father found work in a factory. Laughlin was an introverted child with few friends and a close relationship with his father, who cultivated and encouraged his lifelong love of literature and whose death in 1918 devastated his son. Although he dropped out of high school in 1920 after having barely completed his first year, Laughlin was an educated and highly literate man. John Laughlin MacIsaac (June 3, 1870 – March 24, 1941) was a Canadian physician and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Antigonish County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1925 to 1941. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party.
