John Kiely (Limerick Hurler)
John Kiely (born 1972) is an Irish hurling manager and former selector, Gaelic footballer and hurler. He has been manager of the Limerick senior hurling team since 2016. Born in Galbally, County Limerick, Kiely first played competitive hurling and Gaelic football in his youth. After beginning his club career at juvenile and underage levels, he later became a dual player at senior level with the Galbally and Garryspillane teams. Kiely won a total of three championship medals across both codes. He is principal of The Abbey, a secondary school in Tipperary Town. Career Kiely made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he joined the Limerick minor hurling team. After little success in this grade he later joined the under-21 team, also without championship success. Garryspillane GAA
Garryspillane GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Knocklong/Glenbrohane, County Limerick, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club was founded in 1952 and is almost exclusively concerned with hurling with footballers catered for by neighbouring Galbally. Ciarán Carey
Ciarán Carey (born 16 January 1970) is an Irish former hurling manager, selector and player. Primarily playing at the centre-back position, Carey's club career was with Patrickswell and at inter-county level with Limerick. He was a key member of the latter team during the 1990s and collected two Munster titles, two National Hurling League titles and three All-Star awards. In retirement from playing Carey has become involved in team management and coaching. At club level he has taken charge of the Tournafulla and Granagh-Ballingarry sides in hurling and camogie respectively. Carey began his inter-county coaching career when he was appointed manager of the Limerick senior camogie team in 2007. He subsequently took charge of the Limerick under-21 hurling team as well as being a selector with the Limerick senior hurling team under Dónal O'Grady. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. John Allen (born 1955) is an Irish former Hurling, hurler and Gaelic footballer who played as a forward in both codes for the Cork GAA, Cork senior teams. A dual player at the highest level, Allen spent three season with the Cork senior hurling team. During that time he won one All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland winners' medal and one Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster winners' medal. Allen also spent five seasons with the Cork senior football team, during which time he won one Munster Senior Football Championship, Munster winners' medal and one National Football League (Ireland), National Football League winners' medal. Leo O'Connor (hurler)
Leo O'Connor (born 1967) is an Irish retired hurler who played as left wing-forward for the Limerick senior team. O'Connor made his first appearance for the team during the 1988-89 National League and became a regular member of the starting fifteen over the next seven seasons. During that time he won one Munster medal as a non-playing substitute. He ended up as an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level O'Connor is a one-time county club championship medalist with Kinnitty. In retirement from playing, O'Connor became involved in team management. He has served as manager of the Mungret intermediate hurling team, the offaly under-17 hurling team and the Limerick under-21 hurling team.
