John Jones (rugby League)
John Jones (born on 9 January 1966) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He played for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and South Queensland Crushers, and primarily played forward. Playing career When he was a local junior, Jones had to bide his time in reserve grade; he eventually made his first grade debut at the age of 23 for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in their 19−14 loss to the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in round 15 of the 1989 NSWRL season. By the 1990 season, Jones was a regular in the first grade team. In the 1992 season, after playing in all 22 games and scoring 4 tries, Jones finished runner-up to Allan Langer in the Rothmans Medal for best and fairest player during the Winfield Cup competition that season. The Western Suburbs Magpies (legal name: Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Ltd) are an Australian rugby league football club based in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Formed in 1908, Wests, as they are commonly referred to, were one of the nine foundation clubs of the first New South Wales Rugby League competition in Australia. The club, as a sole entity, departed the top-flight competition in 1999 after forming a 50–50 joint venture with Balmain Tigers to form the Wests Tigers. Alan James Whiticker (born 1958) is an Australian non-fiction author and publisher, with over 50 published books on history, sport, biography, true crime and lifestyle. The 1994 NSWRL season (known as the 1994 Winfield Cup Premiership due to sponsorship from Winfield) was the eighty-seventh season of professional rugby league football in Australia. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles
The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Sydney's Northern Beaches. The team colours are maroon and white, while their namesake and logo is the sea eagle. They compete in Australia's premier rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL). The club debuted in the 1947 New South Wales Rugby Football League season and currently host the majority of their home games from Brookvale Oval in Brookvale, while training at the New South Wales Academy of Sport in Narrabeen. The club has competed in either the NSWRL, ARL, or NRL competitions in all respective seasons from 1947 until 1999.
