John Hunt (American Football)
John Stephen Hunt (born November 6, 1962) is a former professional American football guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played college football at the University of Florida. Early years Hunt attended Edgewater High School, where he played football and baseball. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of Florida. He became a regular starter at left guard as a junior. Even though he broke a hand on October 8, 1983, against Vanderbilt University, he started the final 22 games of his college career. As a senior, he was considered a key player in the team's improved running game. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Guards are automatically considered ineligible receivers, so they cannot intentionally touch a forward pass, unless it is to recover a fumble or is first touched by a defender or eligible receiver. 1984 NFL Draft
The 1984 NFL Draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held May 1–2, 1984, at the Omni Park Central Hotel in New York City, New York. No teams elected to claim any players in the regular supplemental draft that year. Woodward Academy (also known as Woodward or WA) is an independent, co-educational college-preparatory school for pre-kindergarten to 12th grade on two campuses located in College Park and Johns Creek, Georgia, United States, within the Atlanta metropolitan area. Kurt David Petersen (born June 17, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri) is a former American football guard in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Missouri. Early years Petersen attended Lutheran High School North in St. Louis, Missouri. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of Missouri. He was named a starter at "stand-up" defensive end as a sophomore. The next year, he registered 53 tackles (9 for losses).
