John Francis Moore (bishop)
John Francis Moore, SMA (12 January 1942 in Dublin, Ireland – 20 January 2010) was the Bishop of the Diocese of Bauchi, Nigeria. He was ordained a priest on 20 December 1965 for the Society of African Missions. Bishop Moore was born on 12 January 1942 in the parish of Harold's Cross, Dublin, in the Archdiocese of Dublin, the second son of John and Mary Moore (née Broughal). He was educated at the Christian Brothers Secondary School, Synge Street, Dublin from 1955 to 1959. In 1960 he became a member of the SMA. From 1960 to 1966 he studied Philosophy and Theology at the SMA Major seminary at Dromantine House, Newry, Co Down. Right Reverend Eugene Doherty, Bishop of Dromore, ordained him to the priesthood on 20 December 1965 in St Colman's Cathedral, Newry. On 5 July 1996 he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of Bauchi and Titular Bishop of Gigthi Gigthi was a town in the late Roman province of Tripolitania, which became a residential episcopal see. John Francis Moore is a comic book writer known for stints as writer on such Marvel comics series as ''X-Force'', ''X-Factor'', ''Doom 2099'' and ''X-Men 2099''. John Francis Moore (politician)
John Francis Moore (1816 Wiltshire, England- April 5, 1870, Montreal, Quebec) was a lumber merchant and politician. He was mayor of Hamilton, Ontario in 1857. He was married twice, first to Jane Loughry, and secondly to Elizabeth Donnelly. Little is known of the life of John Francis Moore, who came to Hamilton about 1840. He and his brother Edward formed ''J. and F. Moore Lumber Merchants and Nursery'', located at Rebecca Street; south side of market square. The brothers also owned a planing and veneering mill on Wellington Street between King William and Rebecca streets, and constructed many houses on Cathcart Street. The business apparently lasted until 1865, when it ceased to appear in the city directory. Moore was elected alderman to represent St. Lawrence's Ward and was chosen as Mayor in 1857 by the council. John Francis Moore (sculptor)
John Francis Moore (died 1809) was a sculptor who was active in late 18th century Britain. His works include two memorials in Westminster Abbey. Life Moore was of British extraction but was born in Hanover, Germany around 1725. While he was presumably raised and educated in Germany he moved to Britain around 1760. In 1766 his first presentation to the Society of Arts is noted: a relief sculpture entitled ''Britannia Reviver of Antique, Prompter to Modern Art''. Moore was married to Mary, only daughter and sole heir of John Early (d.1748), a corn chandler and proprietor, by whom he had three sons, John Francis, Charles and James (d.1816) and three daughters, Maria Teresa, Elizabeth Ann and Frances Agnes. His eldest son, John Francis Moore the younger (d.1793) was also a sculptor but of lesser note. He died young and his father thereafter went into partnership with a 'J. Smith' from 1790 onwards.
