John Flanagan (Tipperary Hurler)
John Flanagan (born 1947) is an Irish former hurler who played as a right corner-forward at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Flanagan made his first appearance for the team during the 1967 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement a decade later. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal, two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. At club level Flanagan is a Munster medalist with Moycarkey–Borris. Moycarkey–Borris GAA
Moycarkey–Borris GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the village of Littleton but also takes in areas such as Two-Mile-Borris, Horse and Jockey, and Moycarkey. The Tipperary county hurling team represents Tipperary in hurling and is governed by Tipperary GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship of 1967 was the 81st staging of Ireland's premier hurling knock-out competition. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league.
