	John Eldridge (politician) John Chambers Eldridge (1872 – 17 April 1954), Australian politician. He was a member of the Australian House of Representatives from 1929 to 1931, representing the electorate of Martin for the Australian Labor Party (1929–1931) and the splinter Lang Labor party (1931). Eldridge was born in Kolkata, India. He educated at the Cootamundra, Marrickville and Fort Street schools in New South Wales and studied economics at the University of Sydney and social sciences and administration at the University of London. He became a public servant, and was assistant superintendent of the State Labour Bureau for many years; he also served as secretary of the British Empire League in Australia. 	John Eldridge (British Army Officer) Lieutenant-General Sir (William) John Eldridge KBE CB DSO MC (2 March 1898 – 3 November 1985) was a senior British Army officer who became General Officer Commanding Aldershot District. Military career Eldridge was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in 1915 during World War I and served in France and Belgium. After the War he was involved in operations in Iraq. He attended the Staff College, Camberley, alongside future general officers such as William Dimoline, Leslie Lockhart and Ashton Wade, from 1933 to 1934. He also served in World War II and was deployed to Italy in 1944. He became Director General of Artillery at the Ministry of Supply in 1945 and Commandant of the Royal Military College of Science in 1948. 	John Eldridge (sociologist) John Eric Thomas Eldridge (17 May 1936 – 24 December 2022) was a British sociologist known for his writings on Industrial Sociology and on Max Weber as well as for being a founder member of the media analysis research group the Glasgow Media Group. 	John Eldridge (director) John Eldridge (1917–1962) was a short-lived British film director. Gaining fame as documentary film maker in the Second World War for the Ministry of Information (United Kingdom), Ministry of Information his topics covered both war and very particularly architecture and urban planning. He appears to have knowledge and/or training in these fields. Often working with poets he had at least five collaborative projects with Dylan Thomas. Life He was born in Folkestone on 26 July 1917.
