John E. Davis (American Football)
John Eayres Davis (August 4, 1891 – January 2, 1961) was a college football player and a notable architect in Birmingham, Alabama. Auburn University Davis was a prominent fullback for the Auburn Tigers of Auburn University from 1907 to 1911. 1910 Davis was captain in 1910. Auburn was co-champion of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) was one of the first collegiate athletic conferences in the United States. Oak Grove, Alabama
Oak Grove is a town in Talladega County, Alabama, United States. It incorporated in 1966. At the 2020 census, the population was 564. Geography The town of Oak Grove is located at (33.189772, -86.303163). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. Oak Grove is a suburb of the city of Sylacauga. The two municipalities are contiguous, and both run along U.S. Highway 280, which runs from Birmingham, Alabama, southeastward to Columbus, Georgia, and then through Georgia toward Savannah. Oak Grove is southeast of Birmingham and north of Montgomery via U.S. Highway 231. Oak Grove is a hilly town occupying both sides of Landers Hill and Merkle Mountain. The 1910 Auburn Tigers football team represented Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now known Auburn University) as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) during the 1910 college football season. The team was led by head coach Mike Donahue, in his sixth year, and played their home games at both the Drill Field in Auburn, Alabama. They finished the season with a record of six wins and one loss, and finished as SIAA co-champion. The team's leading scorer was Bill Streit.
