John Connolly (born 31 May 1968) is an Irish writer who is best known for his series of novels starring private detective Charlie Parker. Biography Education and early career Connolly was educated at Synge Street CBS and graduated with a BA in English from Trinity College, Dublin, and a Masters in journalism from Dublin City University. Before becoming a full-time novelist, he worked as a journalist, a barman, a local government official, a waiter and a gofer at Harrods department store in London. Writing career After five years as a freelance journalist for ''The Irish Times'' newspaper, he became frustrated with the profession, and began to write his first novel, ''Every Dead Thing'', in his spare time (he continues to contribute articles to the paper, most frequently interviews with other established authors). John Patrick Connolly (June 28, 1894 – October 30, 1971) was an American politician who served as clerk of the Suffolk Superior Court of Civil Business from 1936 to 1939. He was convicted of bribery in 1941 for receiving kickbacks from court employees. Johnny Óg Connolly is an Irish musician. A son of traditional musician Johnny Connolly of Inis Bearachain, Connemara, Connolly began playing the accordion aged nine, learning from his father and Micheal Mheáirt Ó Coisdealbha. Two years later he was the winner of the Slógadh and Fleadh Ceoil All-Ireland on the button accordion. Aged fourteen, he joined Na h-Ancairí, featuring singer John Beag Ó Flatharta, playing in the band for eight years. In 1994 he joined the Seán Keane Band, performing widely in Europe and North America. In 1998, he toured with '' Lord of the Dance''. In 2003 he settled in Connemara. Johnny Connolly
Johnny Connolly was an Irish musician from Connemara, and one of Ireland's most prominent players of the melodeon (one-row button accordion). In a 2008 TG4 interview, Connolly described how he first took up the instrument: his parents left the children home at Inis Bearacháin to go watch currach racing, and Connolly's sister showed him where their parents kept their melodeon locked up, which he commenced to play for the rest of the day, beginning his ties to the instrument. Connolly has been described as "king of the melodeon", the best player of his generation, and catalyst for increased interest in the single-row melodeon in Irish music. John Connally
John Bowden Connally Jr. (February 27, 1917June 15, 1993) was an American politician. He served as the 39th governor of Texas and as the 61st United States secretary of the Treasury. He began his career as a Democrat and later became a Republican in 1973. Born in Floresville, Texas, Connally pursued a legal career after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin. During World War II, he served on the staff of James Forrestal and Dwight D. Eisenhower before transferring to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. After the war, he became an aide to Senator Lyndon B. Johnson. When Johnson assumed the vice presidency in 1961, he convinced President John F. Kennedy to appoint Connally to the position of United States Secretary of the Navy. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. John Connolly, O.P. (1750 – February 6, 1825), was an Irish-born prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. A Dominican friar, he served as the second Bishop of New York from 1814 until his death in 1825. Biography Early life John Connolly was born in County Meath, Ireland; according to various sources, he was born in either Slane or Drogheda. Dominican historian Victor O'Daniel reports that Connolly's family had a tenant farm on the Hill of Slane. After receiving his early education in his native country, he continued his studies in Belgium, and entered the Order of Friars Preachers, more commonly known as the Dominican friars, at an early age.
