John Colquhoun (sportsman)
John Colquhoun (6 March 1805 – 27 May 1885) was a sportsman and sportswriter in Scotland. Life He was born in Edinburgh to James Colquhoun, 3rd Baronet of Luss, Dumbartonshire and Janet Colquhoun (born Sinclair). Together with his elder brother he was educated first at a school in Edinburgh, subsequently at a private school in Lincolnshire (Rev. Mr. Grainger's of Winteringham), and finally at the University of Edinburgh. In 1828, he joined the 33rd Regiment in Connaught, Ireland. In 1829, he was promoted to the Fourth Dragoon Guards. John Colquhoun (footballer)
John Mark Colquhoun (born 14 July 1963) is a Scottish footballer who played for Stirling Albion, Celtic, Hearts, Sunderland, Millwall and St Johnstone. Playing history A slightly-built but very pacy striker, Colquhoun was a popular and prolific goalscorer for his hometown club Stirling Albion. He was signed by Celtic in 1983. He moved to Edinburgh club Hearts in 1985. Colquhoun helped the club achieve its best performances in many years, only losing the 1985–86 Scottish Premier Division on goal difference thanks to a last day defeat at Dundee. He earned 2 international caps for Scotland, against Saudi Arabia and Malta, in 1988. Colquhoun played for Millwall and Sunderland in the early 1990s. He returned to Hearts in 1993. He scored the Hearts goal in the 1996 Scottish Cup Final, a 5-1 defeat by Rangers. Colquhoun spent a month with Scottish First Division side St Johnstone in 1997 and helped them win promotion. John Campbell Colquhoun
John Campbell Colquhoun (23 January 1803 – 17 April 1870) was a Scottish writer and politician. Life Colquhoun was born in Edinburgh on 23 January 1803, son of Archibald Colquhoun and Mary Ann, daughter of the Rev. William Erskine, episcopalian minister at Muthill, Perthshire. He was educated at Edinburgh High School, and Oriel College, Oxford. In 1832 Colquhoun is listed as living at 10 Melville Street in the west end of Edinburgh, then newly built. In the same year he was elected Member of Parliament for Dumbartonshire, and in 1837 for Kilmarnock Burghs. He unsuccessfully contested the Kilmarnock burghs in July 1841, however was elected in July 1842 as a member for Newcastle-under-Lyme, which he continued to represent until the dissolution of 1847, when he retired from reasons of health. John Frederick Colquhoun, CBE (22 November 1890 – 1968), nicknamed "Koko", was a long-serving headquarters official of The Boy Scouts Association of the United Kingdom and served on the World Organization of the Scout Movement's committee from 1959 to 1965. Background Colquhoun was The Boy Scouts Association Headquarters Commissioner for Wolf Cubs from 1927 to 1938 and Akela Leader (head trainer of Wolf Cub leaders), Gilwell Park. Sir John Colquhoun (c.1596 – aft. 8 November 1647), Sixteenth Lord Colquhoun and the Eighteenth of Luss, was the first Colquhoun baronet of Nova Scotia, Canada. The Baronetage of the Colquhoun clan of Nova Scotia was established on 30 August 1625. Colquhoun was born in Scotland, probably in 1596, as his parents were married in 1595. There have been two baronetcies created for persons with the surname Colquhoun ("Cohoon"), one in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia (1625) and one in the Baronetage of Great Britain (1786). The second baronetcy in 1786 was created to rectify confusion over the first.
