John Clements (1757—10 July 1817) was a ship's captain in the service of the East India Company. John Clements (actor)
Sir John Selby Clements, CBE (25 April 1910 – 6 April 1988) was a British actor and producer who worked in theatre, television and film. Biography Theatre career Clements attended St Paul's School and St John's College, Cambridge. He made his first professional appearance on the stage in 1930, then worked with Nigel Playfair and afterwards spent a few years in Ben Greet's Shakespearean Company. In 1935 Clements founded the Intimate Theatre, a combined repertory and try-out venue, at Palmers Green. He appeared in almost 200 plays and also presented a number of plays in the West End as actor-manager-producer. Clements married the actress Kay Hammond and together they had a critical success with their West End revival of Noël Coward's play ''Private Lives'' in 1945. In 1952 they both appeared in Clements's own play ''The Happy Marriage'', an adaptation of Jean Bernard-Luc's '. John Clements (Australian Politician)
John Findlater Clements (1819 – 2 September 1884) was an Irish-born Australian politician. He was born in Balbriggan to Royal Navy lieutenant Hanbury Clements and Margaret Ingham. He migrated to New South Wales around 1833 and became a pastoralist, with over 160,000 acres in the Lachlan River area. In 1859 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is the lower of the two houses of the Parliament of New South Wales, an Australian state. John James Clements
John James Clements, VC (19 June 1872 – 18 June 1937) was a South African recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Clements was 28 years old, and a corporal in Rimington's Guides, South African Forces during the Second Boer War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC: Following the end of the war, he went to the United Kingdom and received the decoration from the Prince of Wales during a large coronation parade of colonial troops in London on 1 July 1902. Clements later achieved the rank of Sergeant serving in World War I. John Clements GC was a schoolmaster at Sherrardswood School, Welwyn Garden City who was awarded the George Cross for his heroism in rescuing others from a hotel fire at the Sappada Ski Resort in northeast Italy on 12 April 1976. John Ernest Clements (3 November 1867 – 1945) was an English footballer. His regular position was at full back. He was born in East Markham, Nottinghamshire. He played for Newton Heath, Notts County, and Rotherham Town. Early career There is no record of when John Clements left East Markham and came to Nottingham. By the year of his 20th birthday, he had signed for a Nottingham amateur club called St. Saviour's and played for them in the 1887–88 season. In 1888, he was discovered by Notts County and signed for them in October that year. League & Notts County debut Clements made his debut for the club playing at left-back in a Football League match against Burnley at Trent Bridge on 27 October 1888. Notts County won the match 6–1, which made Clements the first Notts County player to win on debut. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Later rock music disc jockeys, such as Alan Freed and Wolfman Jack, mimicked Richbourg's practice of using speech that simulated African-American street language of the mid-twentieth century. John J. "Jack" Clements (July 24, 1864 – May 23, 1941) was an American professional baseball player. He played as a catcher in Major League Baseball for 17 seasons. Despite being left-handed, Clements caught 1,076 games, almost four times as many as any other left-handed player in major league history and was the last left-hander to catch on a regular basis. John Clements Wickham (21 November 17986 January 1864) was a Scottish explorer, naval officer, magistrate and administrator. He was first lieutenant on during its second survey mission, 1831–1836, under captain Robert FitzRoy. The young naturalist and geologist Charles Darwin was a supernumerary on the ship, and his journal was published as ''The Voyage of the Beagle''. After that expedition, Wickham was promoted to Commander and made captain of the ''Beagle'' on its third voyage, from 1837 and conducted various maritime expeditions and hydrographic surveys along the Australian coastline. In 1843, after his retirement from the Royal Navy, Wickham was made Police Magistrate and, later, Government Resident of the Moreton Bay District, in the Colony of New South Wales (NSW). Jonathan Michael Clements (born 9 July 1971) is a British author and scriptwriter. His non-fiction works include biographies of Confucius, Koxinga and Qin Shi Huang, as well as monthly opinion columns for '' Neo'' magazine. He is also the co-author of encyclopedias of anime and Japanese television dramas. Background Clements speaks both Chinese and Japanese, and many of his works relate to East Asia.
