John Clancy (Labour Politician)
John Clancy is the former political leader (2015–2017) of the largest local authority in Europe, Birmingham City Council, and is a visiting professor at Birmingham City University Business School, in the U.K.'s second largest city, Birmingham. He is a qualified solicitor. He is an expert on public sector pension funds and hyper-local data and researches these areas in particular at Birmingham City University. As political leader of Birmingham, he was in charge of an annual revenue budget of over £3 billion, and assets of over £6 billion. John Michael Clancy
John Michael Clancy (May 7, 1837 – July 25, 1903) was an American businessman and politician who served three terms as a United States representative from New York from 1889 to 1895. Biography Born in County Laois, Ireland, he immigrated with his parents to the United States and settled in New York City. He attended the public schools of Brooklyn, engaged in the real-estate business, served as an alderman of the city of Brooklyn from 1868 to 1875, and was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1878, 1879 (both Kings Co., 1st D.), 1880 and 1881 (both Kings Co., 4th D.). Tenure in Congress Clancy was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-first, Fifty-second, and Fifty-third Congresses (March 4, 1889 – March 3, 1895); he was not a candidate for renomination in 1894. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Later rock music disc jockeys, such as Alan Freed and Wolfman Jack, mimicked Richbourg's practice of using speech that simulated African-American street language of the mid-twentieth century. Jack Clancy
Jack David Clancy (born June 18, 1944) is a former American football wide receiver who played for the Miami Dolphins in 1967 and 1969 and for the Green Bay Packers in 1970. He also played in college for the University of Michigan Wolverines from 1963 to 1966. At Michigan, Clancy started as a quarterback, switched to halfback, returned punts and kickoffs, and became a star as an end. In two seasons as an end (1965–1966), Clancy rewrote the Michigan receiving record book. At the time of his graduation, he held the school records for most receptions and receiving yards in a career, season and game. His 1966 total of 197 receiving yards against Oregon State remained Michigan's single-game receiving record until November 6, 2010. He was named an All-American and also set the Big Ten Conference record for most receptions in a single season of conference play. Jack Clancy (Australian Footballer)
John Dalton "Jack" Clancy (13 July 1934 – 23 March 2014) was an Australian rules footballer, playing for Fitzroy Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Born in Melbourne, Clancy attended Christian Brothers' College, St Kilda and then the University of Melbourne and, as a 191 cm ruckman, played for University Blacks in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), until recruited by Fitzroy for the 1957 VFL season. Clancy made his senior debut for Fitzroy in Round One that year as 20th man against reigning premiers, Melbourne, spending the whole game on the bench and was dropped back to the reserves. Years later, at a lunch to make his 50th year with the Blacks, then Fitzroy coach Bill Stephen said he never saw a man sitting on the bench as impressively as Clancy. John Clancy is a contemporary American playwright, novelist and director. He was a co-founder and first Artistic Director of the New York International Fringe Festival and its producing organization The Present Company. John Clancy's written work centers mainly on the American experience, and is characterized by dark humor and farce. His best-known play is ''Fatboy: An American Grotesque'', a modern re-working of Alfred Jarry's Ubu Roi. His monologue ''The Event'' premiered in Edinburgh in 2009 and has gone on to tour Germany, the Netherlands, Australia and the United States and has been translated into Greek and German.
